When you spend £125m+ on a stadium and you're stuck in the Championship, I think it'd have much more of an effect!

Put it this way... 28,000 (even though that isn't the amount turning up when you watch the TV) at £30 = £840000
Put the prices up a fiver, don't get promoted and you lose fans. 20,000 at £35 = £700000.

£140000 x 23 = 3.2 million.

Add in associated costs that these fans may spend in the ground, and it's another £4-5m to add on to their £14m loss.

According to a well-placed BHA contact, they were bought and 3D cameras installed in the expectation you would make it to the Premier League quickly and would be ready for lots of TV exposure.

Well that worked out well, didn't it.

You'd expect Bloom to continue covering them, like he and his family have done for years but if they tail off considerably, you'd have to wonder whether they can maintain such fantastic crowds.

For me, their next 3 games which are all at home are incredibly important, if they manage only a small points return, their season could effectively be over as the top 6 are in pretty decent form and that's when the real hard work starts.

Sad to say that football in the Championship requires a sugar daddy.

You cannot run the business sensibly and make money, you can only try and control the losses and hope for a lucky run into the Premiership. People should remember this when they demand the club shell out £7M + £50k a week for the likes of Long & Jelavic.
Listened to a Sports editor of a national paper on the radio the other day discussing the business side of things in football, in particular about Fulham splashing the cash on that striker from Greece, said that they'd gambled on him saving their season because of the financial impact of championship football, said that any owners would see £10m written off every season, clubs just don't make money in that league.

To be honest, I'm thinking this is bad news and not in the gloating camp at all. The bald truth is, if your restaurant was packed every night of the year and you still make a big loss it has to be worrying.

It shows the Escape to Shitory win at their place was vital for us as a club, but how can football carry on like this?

The thing about any good gambler is that they know when to cut their losses and run. I'd be very worried if I was a BHA fan and they didn't secure promotion within the next two years.

How much longer will tony keep putting his hand in his pocket ? it cant go on for years and years can it . Bozza and el pres are confident it will so they must have reasons for their confidence but it does seem its too good to be true to me . For all their bemoaning of clubs abusing FFP they seem to forget they have a benefactor who has bankrolled them to the tune of £150/200 m for a few years and they cant grasp the notion they have a unfair advantage over most teams in the league .

Oh dear. Living beyond their means so by their own reckoning they are cheating.

Genuinely, how long can Bloom keep bank rolling them?

I don't think anyone wants to see them disappear, do they?

They'll be fine. But if the boot were on the other foot, this board would be inundated with Tarquins.

There's no doubt Brighton are a Premier League team in the waiting, what with their massive debt; sanitised, soulless stadium; plastic, passionless fans and over-inflated opinion of themselves. PLR indeed.

I think we may have inflicted mortal damage on Brightons projected revenue streams by beating them in the playoff semi-final .

The Bloom family have been involved for quite a while so I'd suppose they're in for the long haul but I suspect he'll be disappointed at how things have turned out this season. If they finish outside of the playoffs it's an evident decline.

One thing I'm certain of is that despite all this "Premier League Ready" nonsense that their board have been spouting, I wouldn't mind betting they gambled relatively significantly last season on getting there and as a result, all the problems would disappear.

Obviously that didn't turn out to be the case, I wonder why?

Bozza and El Presidente I notice have been very confidently informing people that Bloom is no longer expecting any money back at all from his 'investments' into BAHFC.

When did this sudden change occur from the previous assertion that he would be paid back over 25 years via the unstoppable money making behemoth combo of the Amex and its ST holders? (Any unlikely shortfall to be absorbed into shares of course).

I guess it's a natural thought process to follow given that, even without repayments, the club is failing massively financially. Perhaps it would be helpful for one of our BBS financial experts to calculate the monthly repayment figure to Bloom over 25 years, and add it to an average of their losses over the past three years to give their fans a figure to go on if they wish to achieve their oft stated aim of clubs 'living within their means'?
