I can't understand the raving about Marshall and Caulker. How many goals has that defence conceded this season?

Cheap no - but how much is our friend Mr Tan going to want to chuck at Cardiff in the Championship? If he wants to cut costs players may not be as expensive as you might think - unless Leicester decide to chuck more cash around of course.

Just like Speroni and Delaney until we had a bit of organisation. Caulker was much better under Malkay and Rodgers (at Swansea).

Puncheon 7 goals from the wing was a good return.

The calls for Chamakh really dies down as the season went on. Mid way he had 4 goals and was looking good. 1 goal since Dec 14th has seen very few calls for PotY.

I don't think I'd put Marshall in the same boat as Caulker.

He has made some outstanding saves this season, and has only been let down by his team's defending. Wouldn't be surprised if a promoted side/bottom half side from this season signs him.

When Makay was sacked Cardiff were 16th and averaging about a point a game needed to stay up. In 18 games they had conceeded 28 times or 1.5 goals a game. By the end of the season that will be at least 72 and they face Chelsea this weekend so the rate will be at least 1.9, the rate they have conceeded has been 1.5 under Makay and 2.3 since.

Mid season under Malky he looked a decent if expensive signing. Of course now Cardiff are destined for the Championship they all look crap. Regardless, 9M for a centre half is too rich for our blood imo.

Must admit I am no judge of players but strikes me as good in the air but poor on the ground. Seen him look horribly flat footed against many teams this year. Makes you realise how good our Tone is to insist on bringing in Scott Danns who has slotted in effortlessly and been totally solid.
It would be interesting to ask neutral fans to put a £value on both.

Well worth considering that the rumoured fee for scott dann was around £1.5 m , so its a big no from me .

He may have made some outstanding saves, as has Jules and most other keepers, however what about the basics? Marshall has saved 66% of shots on target, Jules is 73%, Ruddy is about the same as Marshall.

Cech at 77%, Adrian at 76%, Begovic at 74%, Howard at 76%, Szczesny at 73%, and Manonne at 80% are the others over 70%.

People talk about Wickham being responsible for Sunderland surviving, but a fair anmount has to do with the form of Mannone too. If Marshall had an 80% save rate, then Cardiff would have conceeded 29 less goals.

Those stats do not take into account how easy the chances were and Cardiff faced more shots on target on their goal than any other side (we were 3rd) but that is teh same for all of the keepers and he is not near the top, but rather in teh group at the bottom in that regard.
