No, I wasn't at the match. I watched it in a pub in Amsterdam.

Tipperary in the qualifiers for Galway next weekend. Will Tipp see off Galway in the football as well? It could prompt an invasion across the border. Maroon troops are massing in Portumna on standby.

Would it be a new low for Galway football?

Tyrone are at their lowest point since 2000. Serious work required.

1987-1997 was 10 years of very few highlights for the footballers.
This decade is shaping up similar, though two U21 All Irelands means something is working somewhere. Just need to bring it and develop it into Senior Championship football.

Tyrone Eagle, Cathal McCarron is back playing with the Round Towers in South London again. He shipped out of Tyrone last year due to gambling issues apparently.

There's a rumour that he may (or may not have) broken into a team mates house to fund debts.

Feel for him (and wouldn't mind him back in Tyrone's defence, as he can be very tight to his man) but innuendo aside his top level days are more than likely finished due to his demons and the impact dealing with those debts has had.

Did his video get much attention in London?

I thought that's what you meant about him being 'tight to his man'.

I only know because Ben mentioned it to me a few months back

Hope the lad's getting the help he needs, but hard to see London as the ideal destination for someone with a gambling addiction.

Cheers for the pictures, Doc. You should put them on the west of Ireland thread in GCC too I reckon, for a greater audience.

I've been meaning to ask you, what was the atmosphere like at the match? Mayo kept us at arms length all game so can't imagine it was hopping too much, although goals always get things going.

As a Galway man we're supposed to begrudge Mayo any success being historical rivals, but I can't seem to do it. Mayo football people are good people. And have been waiting for Sam for a long, long time. Arguably the best modern side never to win the All Ireland.

Hi SC, it was our first live game (at least since I was 8/9 yrs) and the atmosphere was warm and friendly and very family orientated. I'd estimate 90% Green and Red with a fair but largely quiet intermixing of Galway fans

To be honest it lacked any tribalism so I was a little disappointed. So here's a link to remind you
