Yes spot on. If you are after housing planning permission then best you can hope for is for part of the land a sports club sits on.
I worked and played sport for Natwest at their sports ground which is now Goals for 20 years. I know Natwest always hoped that one day it would be worth a fortune if it came with full planning permission.
But they eventually resigned themselves to that not happening and sublet the ground to Mike Corby before eventually selling it to him.

I also used to play on those 2 pitches across the road from KCC that Gazza referred to. They weren't great but were a darn site grassier than the houses there now!
Ah the good old days. Then walk back across road after match to Lloyds clubhouse for the free meal home teams had to provide to away teams.

Developers tactics seem to be to buy a closing sports ground in this area, let it go to rack & ruin for couple of years. Leading to vandalism and travellers and fires and graffiti. Then local residents object less when developer asks for planning permission as will clean up the site and end the anti social types hanging out there.

Think horsham fc had a sports club but no ground but got permission to build houses on sports ground that will pay for a ground to be built elsewhere it was a long process over many years think it got rejected 1 st time suppose depends how much local council wants to help said club

See the GAA pitches in New Eltham for proof of the above. Very murky business.

I'm led to believe that 15-year-old goalkeeper Rohan Luthra - from our U16s - is playing for Luton Town U18s today. Just a one-off but really good for him. He was named in an England U15 squad last year.

The 18s travel to Colchester today.

Does that mean he is being looked at by Luton with a view to a move there? Would be a shame if he is any good.

No nothing like that. I understand that it was an emergency loan and it was just to get him more experience. Gary Issott is from Luton so I guess he has good contacts up that way.

Palace U18s won 2-0 at Colchester today, Andrew Demby and Joseph Hungbo scored in either half as we extended our lead at the top of the table to 7 points after Millwall were beaten by Watford.

Team was: Webber, Lynch, Ossai, Mitchell, Demby (1), Gurung, Hungbo (1), Robertson, Malcolm, Baptiste, Daly

Dion-Curtis Henry has signed a new 2 and a half year deal with Palace. He was on a short-term contract previously

Kian Flanagan has also signed a new deal. I understand that is just a year.

Think it's to do with the first-team training and therefore not being able to offer the sufficient facilities without compromising security.
