The difference is Benevento are like the equivalent of Rochdale suddenly getting back to back promotions to the Premier League. We are an established club now.

I'm thinking of going to Genoa to see the Sampdoria-Genoa derby. Anybody been? And anybody got any tips on how to get tickets (or whether its a complete non-starter!)

Thanks

Sorry it's been well quiet in here lately. So Juve won the League again. Surprise surprise. Inter snuck into the last Champions League spot ahead of Lazio by beating them at the Olimpico on the last day of the season.

Crotone, Verona and Benevento (unsurprisingly that one!) were relegated and thus far Empoli and Parma are promoted. The play offs are going on at the moment and are at the semi final stage.

Venezia play Palermo over two legs and Frosinone face Cittadella. In other news Bari are on the verge of Bankruptcy and need to raise €5m in 10 days.

Controversy in the Serie B play off Final. Palermo have appealed to freeze Frosinone's promotion to appeal due to the fact the game finished 90 seconds early after a pitch invasion thus it never actually finished. And also in the last few minutes whenever Palermo were attacking the Frosinone substitutes kept throwing spare balls onto the pitch this causing the referee to stop the game and therefore Palermo's attacks.

All sounding a bit odd and it could get very messy.

Frosinone confirmed promoted to Serie A.

AC Milan banned from European Competition for two seasons for breaking (massively I might add!) FFP. The Chinese fella who bought them is looking to sell already and if he does is looking at a loss of around €300m.

Fiorentina have taken their spot in next season's Europa League.

Easier to read the article than me try to explain it but it has been agreed in Italy that Serie A Clubs can have B teams in Lega Pro (Serie C), much like we see in Spain and Germany.

To view the link you have to Register or Login

I know it's not a very popular idea here (even the U23 teams in the Football League Trophy is despised), but starting to get the feeling it is a growing trend and all these other countries can't surely be wrong?

I don't know really but clearly Italy are trying to follow the path Germany took for their national team after Euro 2000.

The Chinese are out at AC Milan... Defaulted on their loan repayments so Elliott Management the Hedge fund who they borrowed from now own the club and have promised to put in €50m capital to balance the clubs finances. What a mess! Doesn't sound like they are looking to sell anytime soon either.

Sounds like sort of a similar situation to when we owed money to Agilo, except of course they didn't want to own / run the club just get their money back.

Do you reckon there will be a bit of a fire sale at Milan now then or think Elliott Management will be happy enough owning the club?

The way it sounds is Elliott are more than happy to keep AC Milan as a play thing for now. Not sure if their ultimate goal was to give Li Yonghong money knowing he would default and claim the club for effectively free but theres certainly a dodgy feeling about the whole thing.

I've always fallen on the Inter side of the scale in Italian football but it's a little sad to see a massive club like AC Milan in the state they are in right now.

It all feels very Mark Goldberg at Palace but with much bigger sums of money involved. There is absolutely no way the Chinese fella should have been allowed anywhere near the club to be honest. He probably saw Sunning Group involved at Inter and thought I want a piece of that action.

Ps. I have just this second read that Elliott have written off the clubs debts and are injecting €50m into the team. I guess that probably answers the earlier question.

Elliott is now expected to inject around €50m to stabilise the Rossoneri’s finances, with a focus now on gradual investment to respect Financial Fair Play rules.

The hedge fund plans to sell the club on, but must ensure that Milan are no longer in financial difficulty to make them attractive to new owners.

Should be an interesting season next year with both Milan clubs, Parma back in the top flight, Ancelotti back and to see how Ronaldo gets on.

Avellino, Bari and Cessna struggling to meet the financial requirements to register for Serie B next season. Avellino should be ok and Bari may well find the €3m to register, but Cessna need some €23m apparently.

All clubs have until the 16th July to appeal the decision.
