What's gone wrong 2016/17 - point the finger

This is what's gone wrong for me this season

Jedinak, Gayle sold
Worse home kit in living memory , the arrogance of the chairman saying you can only do so much with stripes.
Usual late sending out of season tickets and the new card readers not tested so usual queues on the first day of the season.
Usual poor colour printing on season ticket wallets , orange and blue this season compared with purple last season .
Manager not sacked earlier on
Fan zone lol , the wood would have rotten by now
Advertising boards blocking the view for people
The late arriving floodlights and the club not listening to people regarding the light show .
Getting rid of a good stadium announcer and replacing him with , well not sure with to be honest.
Youth players on the bench but not getting on the pitch , instead we see the dross Mutch.
Sold out games with loads of empty seats
Enjoy the game
Lack of any plans for the train strike against Manchester United
Membership packs late in going out , no replies , club blaming everyone but themselves for the delays .
Giving away fans a better experience at Selhurst than they would get at their normal 'home' ground .

It's all created an atmosphere of 'couldn't care less ' from the club

Added to the usual historical problems of
No replies from the club when you email them
Piss poor away coach service STILL
Premium rate Box office number STILL
Buying tickets online when games aren't on sale when they are meant to be , unable to add certain number of tickets when they go on general sale
Club shop website showing empty pages

As people have said previously the club hasn't changed it's taken the premier league and we have nothing to show from it. Club needs to start to listen to its customers before they coming cap in hand to us in 2017/18 in the championship when crowds drop by 5k a game.

Signing mercenaries like Cabaye, Benteke, Mandanda, Townsend who have added nothing but taken fight and spirit out of the team.

Losing Bolasie and Jedinak.

Giving Dann the captaincy when it 100% should have been given to Delaney.

Academy playing at Goals is the height of embarrassment for me.

Introduction of Membership let alone the packs being delivered late.

The American investment.

Losing Browett is a massive one for me as he was really all about the fans, I am sure he is 100% involved behind the scenes it just doesn't feel like it. He was the fans man.

I should add , the extra time off given to Cabaye after the Euro championship was staggering . He can't have been tired , he only played one game

Parish & Co lost all sight of what mattered as soon as the yanks showed up. Remember how good things were from 2012-2014, on and off the pitch? Haven't seen anything like it since.

Pardew destroyed this team

The fight, the spirit, the physicality all gone and replaced with a bunch of sulky overpaid mercenaries.

What we need in the window is a big nasty Centre half and a big nasty centre midfielder, a younger Jedinak.

The heart and spine have been ripped from this team, and the balls have gone now as well.

Lots has gone wrong, from injuries to the loss of two crucial team members to poor squad building, but most of all, above everything else, like Newcastle before us, we've been Pardewed.

Literally, that's what has happened. It's the long term damage that Pardew does that ultimately ****s a club over.

Everything that was great about us and got us here; Spirit, Speroni, Delaney, Jedi, Bolasie, Zaha and Murray is either gone or going fast with being replaced - mostly thanks to Pardew.

And what we do still have; even Delaney is having to organise the back 4 at 35 years old and.... Zaha make no mistake who without we would be rock bottom of the league right now.

Every fan in that stadium would have loved to have started that game and would have run their socks off to the point of death last night. Instead we had to watch the majority of the team who earned more in the 90 minutes than most will in a year walk around with no fight, no passion, no desire.

Bring back Ramage and Delaney at the back.

Letting decent squad players go and leaving the squad thread bare with no plan B option.

letting Jedi, Murray and worst of all Gayle go without bring in replacements was stupid. Not signing a backup left back even more so.

signing a sick note player on loan.

1. Pardew given too much time.
In hindsight, he should've gone in the Summer and not been allowed to spend the clubs money during the transfer window. Parish too much faith and bought into this transition nonsense.

2. Players brought in.
Tomkins- not good value, injury prone, hasn't been good enough.
Townsend- hopeless mercinary- what conversations were had about left/right???
Remy- held together by spiderwebs & silly string
Flamini- Doesn't seem to be fit enough to play 90 minutes consecutively
Benteke- Goalscoring is good, but general play not great. Passive.

3- Players sold
Jedinak- epitomised the spirit of the club. Was the leader in the dressing room
Bolasie- was often the spark when we were flat. We now rely on Wilf for creativity.
Gayle- was always a good option off the bench. Has banged ingials in the Champ.
Several other squad players let go (e.g. marriapa, Hangeland) and not replaced leaving squad painfully thin in a number of areas

4. Injuries
Long term injuries to Souare & Wickham have been an issue. Particularly as we have very little back up at left back and centre forward. There have been other niggles to players like Tomkins, Dan, McArthur, Ledley, Flamini over the season. Now Benteke appears to be injured also. Add absentees in Sako & Wilf for Afcon and our lack of depth is being exposed.

5. Decisions
We have been victim to some horrendous refereeing decisions over the course of the season. We have had several stonewall penalty appeals waved away, opposition players escaping red cards, a winning goal chalked off at Everton, Pogba scoring whilst offside after a handball, the soft Watford penalty & more.

6. Tactics
The transition is a myth. We hoof it to Benteke or hop Wilf creates something. That's it. We have a static, sideways passing midfield, and two right backs playing at all times with no leftback, with the pace of two second hand tractors, who don't overlap and don't defend very well. There is no screen to protect the back 4, so we make teams look brilliant as they slice through us at will.

For me, the root of our problems is the lack of fitness and conditioning. That causes us to wilt at the end of each half and to pick up far too many injuries. Yet again last night we conceded late in each half. When we equalised, we ran out of steam.

This is down to Pardew and it's unforgivable. Unfortunately it's not something that can be quickly resolved. We need to somehow scrape survival this year and then come back fitter and stronger next year.

Recruitment and scouting has been absolutely abysmal. Do we even have a scouting department?

Same with coaching and fitness.

We operate more like a amateur Championship style club than we did when we were in the Championship. Just everything about the club seems so unprofessional, do ex-players with a link to the 1990 squad bypass any sort of criteria for the job or interview stage when we hand out jobs?

My short answer to this question is "Midfield".

At our best we had a three man core with two wide players. Any two of three from Jedi, McArthur and Ledley, preferably with Jedi as one of the two (both McArthur and Ledley were far better players alongside Jedi), would protect and move, protect and move, shielding the back four and prepared to run when opportunity presented (one goes forward, the other stays back). Then Punch spearheading the centre mid, playing as a number 10 behind Murray/Gayle, with Wilf and Yala out wide (incidentally, sometimes swapping wings to mix it up).

This meant that our midfield was combative and creative, and most importantly meant that the ball went through them, so it didn't keep pinging back and putting the defence under pressure. This in turn allowed Dann and Delaney to read the game and make better decisions.

And then Pards signed Cabaye. Now this isn't an anti-Cabaye rant, the guy's a great player on his day. But he has never fitted our system, which was based on discipline and everyone doing their job. Now we have one out and out defensive midfielder (sometimes Ledley, sometimes Flamini) doing the job that two used to do. We have Cabaye and Punch doing essentially the same things, playing too deep but not staying there, coming forward to start attacks from deep which exposes our too-light defensive midfield when we lose the ball, which means defence panics...

Plus as others have said, selling the wrong players (especially Jedi and Murray, and lately Bolasie for the at best inconsistent Townsend) and the treatment of Speroni has ripped the spirit from the team.
