What this list shows is that the Tories couldn't even put up a plausible stalking horse, let alone a replacement Prime Minister.

Heidi Allen would do an amazing job, but then she isn't a proper Tory

The problem is she might go but the Tories won't. They will scrap like lad to stay in power until 2022. The hard Brexiteers know that if they leave office Brexit doesn't happen and the moderates won't destroy the government because right now they'll lose their seats. Hammond is hard to read. He's far too hawkish for my liking in terms of public spending and his policies are holding the UK economy back. I suspect the Tories are keeping money for a spending splurge around 2020 to win the election, leaving the cupboard bare.

I was at a seminar in the city today where some bloke I'd never heard of called Iain Anderson (Tory party member, runs a PR firm and has the ear of government ministers) claimed that Michael Gove has many admirers within the parliamentary Conservative party. He is an ideas man apparently. Amazingly, this was met with respectful silence by the audience.

He also mentioned Williamson as the coming man - the 'new John Major'. Which I think was meant as a compliment.

May is the most incompetent prime minister since Major and is overseeing an impotent government yet gets less discussion on here than the opposition leader. Strange.

I'd have to agree with you CR, but maybe it is a reflection of JC rather than her.

The posts earlier highlight the point that the country voted to leave (I didn't) and both the Tories and Labour know that she will be in place until it's done. Then the real power struggle (within both parties) will begin.

Nowt strange about it, thats because Corbyn has so much excess baggage, so many skeletons in the closet waiting to be exposed, plus he surrounds himself with the most unsavoury people and groups eg McDonnell, Abbott, Momentum and Marxism.

Whatever people think about JC (and he’s very popular among many and got the biggest vote increase in a general election since 1945), that has nothing to do with what people think of May.

She’s ruining this country and making a mess of Brexit and is the one at the wheel.

May is now also in government with religious fundamentalist terrorists.

The vote to leave is what may ruin our country. She has just been left holding the baby.

If Labour (or a coaltion) had managed to sneak power at the the last GE, do you honestly think they would be doing a better job?

But making a better job at it than Corbyn would ever do. No one trusts Corbyn and see very little of substance in the man and his lacking abilities.
