We "sold out" a very reduced allocation for that game. I was shocked at how few we had up there. I think we can nearly always sell 2k for most away games but we struggle selling 3k for the northern games and the club knows that. That's why they don't take the full 3k. We even struggled to sell out West Ham at their old ground one season.

Don't you think the fact that as of last season the maximum away fans can be charged is £30 makes a difference ? I think the West Ham game you refer to the tickets were priced at £50 plus.

We used to sell out Anfield allocation easy in past think the Club need to look at ticket allocations as im sure more supporters will want to go
So the Championship mentality continues 4 years after we have gained promotion.
The club, management and players seems to go on about how much the "12th man" makes a huge difference (Chelsea away last season), but the club doesn't seem to think it is worth taking any risk if we don't sell out the full taken allocation. At most if we didn't sell 1000 tickets (which would never happen) this would cost £30,000.
How much is a Premier point, or even three, worth these days ?

Absolutely infuriating that we've done this again, first away game of the season and 3pm on a Saturday, who the hell makes these decisions?

This is an absolute farce. There will now be Palace fans unable to go to watch their team. Who at the club is responsible for this ridiculous policy?

Members only policy, often ridiculous points levels, making it harder to go with mates. Combine that with the changes due to TV demands, or a run of away matches, means demand varies. It really need a football person to understand.

Does frustrate me, had to use a mates sons account to get my daughter a ticket as she only has ~500 points and didn't want to miss out/get restricted view.

It would be very interesting to know who is responsible.. Only restricted view available a full 12 days before the match.

Eddie, you seem to have a good handle on tickets etc. Pre the US investment, Steve Browett was involved in allocation, sales etc, do you have any idea who makes these decisions now ? It just seems daft that we are now a London club that sells out the vast majority of our home matches, yet for some major away matches we do not take the full allocation, particularly if they are untelevised and on a Saturday at 3.00pm.
Is it because the club do not make any money on away sales ? or simply that decisions are made by individuals that do not understand our fan base or the opponents we are actually playing?
Surely as soon as the £30 max for away fans was introduced that makes a huge difference to how many we should take as no longer can clubs such as , Man U , Arsenal , Liverpool,WHU charge £50+ for away tickets.

I think you have both answers there. The club make no money so seem to have little or no interest in travelling fans. It is almost contemptuous - and as to who makes these decisions? No-one I suspect. They simply repeat what they have done before and ignore the impact on actual fans.

No, I don't have any knowledge of who makes the ticketing decisions these days. The policy, though, is clear. Despite occasional statements saying how much the club value the travelling support, the fact is that they would rather take a reduced allocation than take the tiniest risk of being left with a bill for a few unsold tickets. I can understand that up to a point, but even for some games when there is absolutely zero risk of not selling out, they see little point in taking the full allocation when they can reduce their admin and postage costs by taking a reduced allocation. The bottom line is that they make no money from the sale of away tickets, and minimising their overheads is given a much higher priority than a bigger travelling support and a fairer system for the fans.

Thanks for the information. Wow, so they may reduce the allocation on the basis of reducing "admin and postage costs". If they have such a problem with it , why not introduce a small booking fee and explain why a company with a turnover of over £100m feels the need to charge it ?

This really is championship mentality at its worst. We all know Steve Parish reads these boards. Maybe he ought to have a think about this next time he publicises our marvellous fan base and the support it give to the players. Sort it out SP, doesn't seem like anyone else will.

That's just my reading of it - not an officially stated policy. But that's the way it seems when the club take reduced allocations for games that have zero risk of not selling out.

They don't do a booking fee, but have a premium rate phone number instead.

Looks like tickets for Liverpool away have been available for a week now with zero loyalty points. Looks like the club called this right.

Well they haven't been available. The only tickets available on the club site are restricted view. This was the case for most of this week, apart from yesterday when a handful of unrestricted were put on sale. There are a full 9 days to go before the Liverpool match.

Ever been at the back at Liverpool?

The whole thing is a vicious circle. Reduce our allocation, impose other conditions that make it difficult to get tickets together, and people start not bothering or others start seeing the lack of tickets available and give up, thinking they have no chance.
