Remember how the Tories ran their GE campaign on the personality and characteristics of May, as she was so popular going into it?

Amazing how things change, and so quickly.

If this was reflected in a GE anyone know what the estimate of seats for each party would be?

It's indeed stunning. Just goes to show how quickly fortunes of any of those in power can change.

All credit to Corbyn's advisors. I also strongly believe social media played an enormous part with youngsters and Socialist momentum, but the Conservatives will learn.

However, I do wonder if Labour have now shot their best bolt.

It is very significant and therefore means a lot.

It is a clear indication as to why the Tory party are propping up the most incompetent PM in my lifetime, as they cannot risk another GE right now.

However if she carries on as she has a Tory backbench revolt is not far off.

This thread was mainly just for a laugh and totally accept things can change massively. On this poll labour would have a majority of 20 or so.

I am surprised CR that you see it as simply a laugh (I know why) when it is actually quite significant, that Labour, under Corbyn have gone from absolute no hopers to be favourites to form a majority government if a GE was held tomorrow.

Corbyn may have come second, but the boost it has given him, and the Labour party, shows in how he is coming across now. Couple that with the total incompetence of May this is far from just being a bit of a laugh.

Our fate is going to be determined by Tory backbenchers and I think there is every chance that they will break ranks.

He just has to remain popular for another 18 months at most. Look at Major in '96 - his majority was progressively whittled away through defections and by-elections defeat. The election came in '97.

There's still a shortage of centre options. This is the ground where either major party should be focusing.

My fear in all this is simply that the Conservatives will get Boris Johnson in as leader soon, he'll say embarrassing, stupid and rude things to anyone and everyone, fall on his arse a few times, wave a British flag around, and the idiots in this country will vote for him in their droves.

There are a lot of idiots in this country, so it will win them a lot of votes.

Here's one estimate relative to 2015 (not 2017).
