The win came from the break, but Froome and Chaves again looked like the men to beat yesterday. Nibali and Bardet the main losers.

Think I've got lucky with a few of my picks, so expect to drop away from the heady heights of third. Mainly as I don't think I have a real GC contender, so when the big mountains start, my points may well be limited!

If Froome wins the Vuelta, does he dare try all three next year?
Must go for the Giro for legacy reasons..

I can only find Spanish language highlights, but it turned out to be a very good stage. Say what you want about our old friend Beefy, but he does like to race. (Van Garderen and Buntercur falling off also helped.)

You get the impression that he's gone all out for the Vuelta this year for "legacy reasons". So a tilt at the Giro must be on the cards at some point.

A good day for the break yesterday. Back to GC action today:
![]() One rider we won't see is Warren Barguil. He's been sent home by the team for riding for himself without regard to team duties/orders. |

What a prick, does he have no concern for my velogames team?

One of the benefits of living overseas is being able to channel hop during a turgid Palace display. Froome managed to eke out a few more seconds yesterday. This is how the GC looks.

I must admit I ended up watching more of the stage yesterday than the football. It was a brilliant stage which almost needed split screen viewing.
