We all thought Roy was a joke for England and that his Fulham heroics were behind him..
He is proving the whole country wrong! Super Roy!

I think he's a good manager as he has been successful in the top flight in both Portugal and Greece. Whether you doubt the quality of those leagues is again, irrelevant.

He had Hull punching far above their weight and had a great start with Watford. They're on a terrible run of form, but have had injuries to key players and suspension/discipline problems. I also think the Everton rumours were very damaging. Despite that poor run (chucking away leads in the last 5 mins, in two games), they sit 10th in the table.

So yeah, I do think he's a good manager if that's alright with you? Your argument to the contrary seems to be based on Steve McClaren and Silva's appearance.
As expected, spin and excuses coming thick and fast. These would not hold true is Moyes had done exactly the same job.

My argument to the contrary is based on fact and research, not Mclaren and how presentable he looks. It just seems the only likely explanation for such regular bias in the media. McLaren is just one example of how the bar is set higher for some managers compared to others as his worst jobs are always mentioned and everything spun negatively, rather than his highlights e.g. winning domestic cup, getting Boro to UEFA Cup final, winning Dutch league with unfancied side.

I don't see how the quality of those leagues is irrelevant to whether you rate a manager, in addition to the context of the sides managed. He at best did a C job at Sporting and no-one mentions his job before that either way, so can't be post brought up as evidence. People just say that he was successful in other leagues because 1 line is written about their previous jobs when appointed and that is taken as accurate. We seem to be far more critical of other manager records and expect them to do far more to gain jobs at the likes of Everton etc.

FYI re: Hull - They were 3 points off safety when he arrived and finished 6 points from safety at the end of the season despite his spending in Jan by the way.

Of course it is. I'm not sure why you keep bringing up McClaren either...rather strange.

I think Silva's a good manager, you don't. Thanks for the chat.

The job that Roy has done is spectacular. I was calling for wholesale changes for the Man City game to save some energy for last night, but was proved wrong, with not only a stunning draw on Sunday but a fantastic win away that really sets us up well for the next few games.

The fitness levels and belief are amazing as proven by the way we are finishing games and the chances and goals in the last 10 minutes. Fringe players are performing very well as evidenced by Sako and Kelly. Still a long way to go as we are 1 of 11 teams battling to avoid the last 3 places, and only 2 points above the bottom 3. A very important transfer window is here now, and some obvious gaps need filling.

A record since Man City away of:

15 games W 5 D 7 L 3 GF 20 GA 16 GD -13 Pts 22

Would normally be good enough for around 7th place. Congratulations so far to the team and even more so to the manager.

We can’t keep relying on miracles though. We just need to have a normal season but then again we don’t do normal we are the Palace rollercoaster.

The stats don't lie; Roy is doing a wonderful job and deserves full credit.
Other than the average is 1.46 I like your way of thinking.

Roy Hodgson is always well mannered and dignified when talking to the morons of the gutter press who try to provoke a reaction for a headline

Mourinho comes across as a petulant child because he is unable to spend as much money as Manchester City. Wenger persistently moans like the one-eyed bigot he is and only appears to be more balanced than Mourinho as he has a chip on both shoulders

We are lucky to have Roy Hodgson and I hope he stays around for a while.

Well at least a lot longer than Holloway, Pulis, Warnock, Pardew, Allardyce and de Boer have since we got back to the Premier League

Yes it's almost like a game to see how much we can handicap ourselves in the pre season and see if we can come back from it?!

If we survive this year just hope lessons have been learned.

Hopefully Roy stays on for at least another year bit of stability and someone who knows what he is doing.

No flash ideas keep it simple and common sense approach with his vast experience.

After hearing that Dann and Punch are out for the rest of the season I had similar thoughts. We need every man on board as it will be difficult enough to get fresh bodies in.

The thing is Roy is just so happy and proud to be here with us. I never wanted him but he quickly changed my mind and i am just so Happy we have a manager who clearly cares and gives a damn about us. The results and performances certainly speak for themselves.

Pulis and BS couldn’t wait to leave. Pulis is a c*** of the highest order. At least BS left in respectable manner.

I'm afraid I don't agree with roys management to be honest. His team selection is poor, here's why:
Freddie Ladapo is not starting
Jordon Mutch is a proven world class reserve player
Chungy plays some of the best passes I've ever seen, the one against burnley was the best IMO
Another key point, why haven't we signed a 30 odd million player who Is absolutely awful

But despite all this lack of judgement, I love roy because he has changed the squad dramatically, but I still hope he takes my advice.

For those wondering whether Roy intends carrying on after this season...an interesting moment in his post match interview when talking about the Christmas fixture list that handed us 2 games in 3 days.

‘If the Premier League are listening, I hope they’re not going to do it to the club again next year. I’d like a little more time between games.’

Of course, anything can happen until August, and this is Palace after all; but I’d say from that, his intention is very much to lead us into another season.

thing is, roy has never had a massive amount of money to spend, so he has always had to make the most of what he's got. i get the the impression that he is happy to do this and is sensible enough to know that clubs cant spend above there means. unlike pullis and allardyce
