Horrific Supermarket Meat

After a sandwich i made this morning with some abysmal Morrisons bacon, I fear this generation will just accept supermarket meat as the norm.

They seem to be taking us for a ride. You cant get decent sausages anymore.... poultry has no meat on it, beef is tasteless, lamb is way overpriced and this bacon i just had was so full of water and thinly sliced that it was transparent.

Saying that Cafe bacon is now some weird thick hard stuff.

Bring back the local butchers!!

Plus shit loads of anti biotics to keep it alive for 40 days, weakening our only weapon agsinst infections. Still pandemics are a small price to pay for cheap birds.

I find the meat from the big supermarkets is proper naff.

If I want a decent steak or bacon I either have to go to Aldi / Lidl or Waitrose (who seem to stock their meat from the same place as the other two).

Been getting Gammon Steaks for years but noticed recently they seem to have little to no taste to them.

Is that the average amount of time a chicken is a live for, for supermarket meat?

The food chain has been f#cked about since the 60's.
My dad was a butcher, south down lamb, local pigs and beef slaughtered locally in Old town Croydon. Chicken was a luxury then. I remember as a kid earning some pocket in my dads shop things like special lights over the meat and powder sprinkled over to make it look redder. NEVER KNEW WHAT THE POWDER WAS,scary to think about it now.
But yes steroids, water and f#ck knows what else has been pumped into our meat and veg to make it look better without considering the consequences.

dont trust many of them now. I saw in a recent report that the same chicken breasts that the cheap brands were selling was being sold by M&S as their lush chicken. It is worrying. Aldi and Lidl do seem to be getting good reviews Meat-wise

I tend to agree that supermarket meat is generally crap. Bacon definitely

I get corn fed or free range chickens from Sainsbury's and to be fair they are ok. I'm currently pot roasting a joint of brisket from Sainsbury's. Looks good.

Steaks and hams etc are very average

the posh sausages that supermarkets sell with really thick skin....it sounds daft to criticise them for being too meaty but they go for meat content over taste.

The mid range saus used to always be the best.
