Is the most dire away game I've ever had the misfortune of going to. Cold, bleak, grey and souless,. . .makes Croydon look like Las Vegas.

To view the link you have to Register or Login They did? Janmaat, Sissoko, Wilnadjum, Cisse, Coloccini, Taylor, Townsend and Tiote were sold, 8 first 11 players. Also sold 2 squad players in Marveaux and Obertan. “Retained their squad of players,” yeah right. What they did was bought a dozen or so quality championship players with the cash from their sales, particularly the lucrative sales of Wilnadjum, Sissoko and Townsend. With money from Wilf, Sakho, Luka, Townsend, Benteke, and probably a few others off the wage bill (Cabaye in particular,) we’ll have just as much money behind us as Newcastle did, if not more. From there it’s just a question of whether we invest it well in players that can take us back to the Prem.

If/when we go down, I'd like to think we won't fall as badly as Sunderland have, but it is of course a possibility.

Doing a 'Newcastle' however... I just can't see it. As someone said - they brought in lots of very good Championship/lower Premier League standard players, and of course had a world class manager in charge. The way we've gone about transfers over the last few years, I cannot see us doing anything other than panicking and spunking what money we have on over the hill mercenaries.

But forgetting us - have you guys looked at the Championship table and seen any football at that level this year? The gap between Premier League and Championship has never been closer. The top 6 sides in the Championship would easily find a place in the lower half of the Premier League now, and at least 3 of them will still be fighting for promotion next season.

For entertainment value, he’s been one of the most amusing away managers in recent years.

We sit up above the away dugout and there were times when watching his antics was more fun than the match.

Sunderland went down and lost 18 or so, many of whom from their starting 11/matchday 18 and have had to replace quite a few.

One of those would fit us far more likely than the other. 7/8 of our first 11 would be long gone, and whats left already isn't good enough!
How come their bench looked like it was mostly first teamers last year?

Can't stand Sunderland. Good riddance to them.

Having them in League 1 or 2 will boost the coffers of a lot of small clubs, so its good news all round.

England taking Allardyce so close to the beginning of the season messed them up beyond repair. They were already a collection of cast offs from other teams but Allardyce had them surviving, despite flirting with the drop season after season.

He goes. Moyes comes in, bad mouths the players, the fans are staying away for some reason (protest at the owner's apathy, I heard), and it goes from bad to worse. Now it looks like they destined to drop again.

Moyes spent a fair bit of dough there, which often gets overlooked. His record in player acquisition post-everton is appalling. Dreadful manager.

Spent best part of 40m on Ndong, McNair, Oviedo, Darren Gibson and Papa Djilobodji... utter dross... that's before the free signings of Piennar and loan fees of Janusaiz too...

Amen. The arrogance of the likes of Cattermole who slagged off Palace & a portion of their support who seem to think that they are Gods (masquerading as pink seats shortly after half time when losing) means I won't shed any tears for them.

That being said, I prefer them to Newcastle United.

But all in all they are all just a bunch of deluded digits from the wor North East marra where football is a religion etc.
