Was always impressed by Kember. Destroyed his own budding career when he went to Chelsea and went from being an 8 to a 4.

Kellard, used to control games sadly only here for a year.

Even Jamie Pollack, able to get everyone else playing but a bit overweight and fell out with Smith.

Bobby Kellard had two spells with us, in 1963-65 and was resigned in 1971-72 from Leicester to replace Steve Kember when he went to Chelsea. Clever Player? For me Johnny Byrne, Don Rogers (who many may not have seen) Vince Hilaire and John Salako. Matt Jansen is up there too.

He (Shipperly) used to create chaos which others capitalised on and certainly let the centre half know it was Saturday.

Big Glenn Murray of recent vintages. Someone said Owen Garvan and that's a good shout. Freedman. Michael Hughes. Lombardo.

Murray was going to be my answer as well - the fact he could anticipate what Zaha & Bolasie were going to do is the greatest example of just how intelligent a footballer he was.

Further back, Andy Roberts when played at sweeper. I loved him as a kid. Thought he was class - could read the game brilliantly & was good on the ball. All the more impressive when you heard him talk & realised off the pitch he was as thick as shit.

Lombardo obviously. Warhurst and Matty J. Murray has nouse, so clever in that respect - knows how to win a freekick to take pressure of a defending team.

Who's been the smartest for us on the pitch? I thought Murray was very smart, as was Freedman. I guess our current guy would be Cabaye.
Freedman immediately came to my mind too.

Very good at running into space and making the most of the talent he had.

Like you, I also thought of Cabaye and how much hed have loved to feed passes to Freedman. It must be frustrating for him sometimes, because I see him look up and want to make a defence-splitting pass, but none of our players is making those Freedmanesque runs.

Occasionally Wilf or Andros does, but Dougie would do them every match.

Freedman and Cabaye in one team would be ideal!
