Also, winning 3-0 away at Bramall Lane in the Dowie era. Colin get dog's abuse for the last thirty – little did we know he'd one day be in our dugout – and a memorable celebratory night out in Sheffield, hosted by Stavbot 69, followed.

Our biggest ever away win at Sheffield United, surely?

Oldham 2 Palace 3 September 1991. We were so good that day going forward and I really thought that after the 3rd place the season before, the team was going to win trophies.........................3 days later Ian Wright went to Arsenal

There was a game away at Watford in the 2nd tier about 15-20 years ago which we won 4-1 or 5-1, we absolutely walked it - by the end every Palace pass was cheered with an "Ole" and I don't think Watford even touched the ball the last couple of minutes as we went into exhibition football mode.

Palace 3 - Wolves 1. First leg playoff. Those late goals and everyone going mental when Freedman made it 3.

That 1-6 win at Reading

Home to Portsmouth championship year under Alan Smith

1-6 win at St Andrews, including a cool finish from Jim Cannon

Three games where we didn't just play well, but were on another level

The 6-3 game vs Stoke was brilliant. It was an absurd game of football. Stoke got one back on the stroke of half time, and then Michael Hughes scored from what felt like a run straight from kick off.
I don’t even know if the game was that important, but one that stands out however many years later.

The match when we announced Holloway, (Bolton or Blackburn?) was some of the best football I’ve ever seen us play. Holloway at half time said, “how lucky am I to be taking over this team? Is there much else to do?”. Unfortunately for him, it was probably the best we were ever going to play, and was never going to happen for another 2 thirds of the season remaining.

Unbelievable game. City were on a crazy long unbeaten run which included a 10-1 massacre of Huddersfield. No one gave us a chance. Went 1 down midway through the second half but then Brighty got their keeper Nixon sent off and all hell broke loose. Wright and Bright ran rampage and the 400 or so Palace faithful were lucky to get out alive as 25,000 City fans scaled the fences screaming, 'There's gonna be a riot!'
This!
Although weren't we on a pretty impressive run of form, too, at the time.
One of the few times I was genuinely worried about getting back to the station in one piece!
I seem to recall the 400 or so Palace just going totally mental as the goals went in, as if to say, "well, we're not making it out of here alive, so may as well enjoy it!"

think it was the 4-0 in early 96'. Houghton ran the show that day and Freedman was showing what a class act he was. A period where from memory I think we lost 2 in 20 odd games.

I'd give a mention for Crystal Palace 5-1 Pompey in August 93'. It was very early on in the season and we'd been a bit stop start bit this game and then things "clicked" and you could see how good we'd be that campaign. We played good free flowing football and Armstrong looked superb. It was also the dawning of a new era after the Coppell era

The 2-1 away win at Charlton in the League cup was good fun. Torghelle scored, then got sent off - a second yellow for diving.

Great atmosphere that night

Butterfield's 5 minute perfect hattrick against Wolves is up there for me, so many emotions at once; shock, happiness and hilarity!

Went to the Wolves game and sat in the home end with a friend who was a Wolves fan. Had to sit on my hands as we scored 4 and created numerous other chances and had a perfectly good goal ruled out. Really was a day when we could have got double figures - even Carl Veart scored

The most electric atmosphere I've experienced in a long time was the 3-3 against Liverpool, but I don't know if it makes it the best game.

It's a tough question because matches have many different meanings which make them special in their own way, promotion, avoiding relegation, cup run, those matches where we are just on fire, etc.

^^ My first Palace away game

Personal favourite was probably the 2-1 Palace win at Highbury back in 1994. Not particularly expected and sweet at a ground where we'd had little joy, against a team who'd inflicted considerable misery on us over the years. Ian Wright scored his hundredth goal for them that day.

1) Speroni's Testimonial

The atmosphere, occasion, and the Dundee fans were amazing.

2) Crystal Palace 3-1 Wolverhapton Wanderers Play-off semi 1997 - Freedman double.

Last few minutes, dying for a pee. Wanted to go but stayed. Glad I did but nearly peed myself. Hurdled the Holmesdale rows to get up as fast as possible.

Should have said Selhurst Hoover but he does spend a lot of his time hovering at the bar!

Our biggest ever away win at Sheffield United, surely?
That game remains one of my personal favourites. Not particularly because of the result, but the amount of wrong'uns sitting around us. The bloke who shouted 'WOOOOAAAAAAHHHHH, HE LIKES IT IN THE MOUTH!' every time Paddy Kenny took a goal-kick was my personal favourite.

Stockport and both Amex wins are probably my stand-out games, although beating United at Old Trafford with Ambrose scoring THAT goal was pretty special.

I have just thought of another

Winning 3 - 2 at Rotherham after being 2 down on the opening day. Jamie Smith (I think) getting a late winner and the away end was utter carnage

Ones that didn't mean anything:
Peterborough 2-1 promotion season
A 3-2 win at the dell against Southampton where Richard Shaw scored an own goal in the first minute
2-1 win at Old Trafford Dec 1989
2-1 win at Everton lombardo's debut
1-2 defeat at Bournemouth in a friendly about 1976 (first game away from selhurst for me)
0-0 draw at Fulham in 1978-79 season (my first away league match)
