Palace drawn away to Rotherham or Mansfield, (they play their second round match this Wednesday, the third round game needs to be played by Sat 16th December)

A ground a Palace team have not played at if Rotherham win.

Both Rotherham and Mansfield are at home on the Saturday 16th December. I'd expect the game to be played at their first-team stadium - bigger clubs have it at other first-team stadia. So in that case chances are it could be a Tuesday night match with a 7pm kick-off.

Palace have made it past the third round just once in the last seven years

Very interested in this, mainly to tick the ground! A few seasons ago in the Youth Cup we played Accrington Stanley away, but annoyingly the date was only fixed with 1 weeks notice, and it followed a couple of zero-notice postponed games there, so didn't fancy it.

Would be grateful if this thread could be kept updated as and when more is known

We need a thread about Mansfield visits in the 70s. Alfreton station was a hell of a way from the ground. Haven't they built a new station now?

Going back isn't it

Stayed with friends near Retford for the first visit in 75/76. No idea where we drank pre-match and don't remember the match. Apparently we drew 1-1. Easier to remember the match two weeks before - away to Sunderland in the cup

Just checked - station re-opened in 1995.

Free train travel to Mansfield for that game as compensation from BR for train debacle incurred for fa cup qtr final at Sunderland when some of football special trains arrived after kick off with one not arriving until about half time.
If I remember correctly then Peter Taylor scored our goal in the one one draw.

Alf is miles away

Station right outside the ground more or less

Nottm for a few beers then hop on the Robin Hood line - about 30 mins

It was a long time ago but i thought i paid a pound for the return train trip to Mansfield . Saying that i did give the pound to one of our lot to get the ticket , So might well have been free .. I just remember loads of buses taking us to the ground , God knows how many Palace traveled that day.

Mansfield's match report of last night's game suggests we have a Cat 1 academy. Is that right? If so how come we aren't in the Checkatrade Trophy?

Thanks, that is what I thought. Mansfield are either assuming we are Cat 1 because the 1st team is Premier League, or getting their excuses in early!

Always have an Eye on our Youth Team and take a particular interest in looking to get to the game.
Mansfield won't be that much further for me than Selhurst Park so will keep watching to find out date of game.
My understanding is that the date given by the FA is the latest date by which the game can be played!
(Still have my FA Youth Cup Videos from the Man Utd matches no commentarys though).

Would be helpful if they could hurry up and fix the date for this! Would like to try and go as long as the date doesn't clash with anything, but the less notice there is, the harder it gets!

I seem to remember the same happened with the game at Accy Stanley a couple of years ago
