Our throw-ins are absolutely hopeless. I reckon we lose the ball from about 75% of them. Also, surely we can get someone to practice long throws - they are not that complicated - probably won't lead to a goal but at least it makes attacking throw-ins more interesting.

Roy still only getting it 75 per cent right for me . Poor use of subs , we got lucky today but it wasnt because of the managers intervention

No chance we'd have won without Benteke coming on at half time

The problem with throw ons is that we dont seem to have anyone who can throw it long, Wickham can, but he is injured. It would be good if we could at least be able to throw the ball from midway in our half and into the opposition half, rather than the 10 yards we currently get.

It would help if more than one player offers to receive the ball from a throw rather than runs 30 yards away!

I'm actually more shocked nowadays when one of our corners ISN'T immediately headed away by the defender closest to the corner-taker.

Yeah, the throw-ins remind me of little league, when your divvy manager and all the adults would insist that because you can't be off-side on a throw you must always chuck it forward down the line and use it as an attacking thing.

A throw-in should just be about getting the ball back into play. No-one cares if it's thrown square, backwards or whatever; just make sure it goes to one of our players. And do it quickly.

I struggle to think sometimes what any of the bench could add - seriously, who is a 'game changer' or a player who could be put on to shut a game down (in the rare occasions we might be ahead)?

^ Agreed. Whom do you put on? Or more importantly, whom do you take off?

I could see just throwing fresh legs on for the sake of rotation of playing time and match fitness, but it's kind of difficult to sub off (for example) Townsend when his replacement would be Sako or Lee, particularly in close matches. We're already playing two wingers as strikers and two central mids as wingers - if we had depth, they'd already be on the pitch in their natural positions!

Whenever we win a throw-in in our own half, I immediately think "We're in trouble here." It seems almost inevitable we'll give the ball away and set up an attack for the other team. Ridiculous that Premier League footballers can't find a way to improve on this.

Not sure if Hughes practices set pieces, looked like they had Joe Allen on Benteke for one of them. Maybe it just looked that way due to the stupid zonal system.

I don't see any reason to put Puncheon on the field unless its to cover for an injury.

Playing Sako is basically giving up the game. I'd genuinely prefer Palace to play with 10 players. With Sako on the pitch the other Palace players may be tempted to pass the ball to him, on account of him wearing the same shirt as them. The best thing that can happen from such an occurance would be the ball going out of play. The worst would be that the inevitable loss of possession creates a chance for our opponents. The players may also mistakingly believe that the area of the pitch that happens to be occupied by Sako is somehow 'covered' defensively. This might cause them to neglect defending the opposition players in that vicinity which has previously been exploited by our opponents and cost us goals.
However with Sako off the pitch, even if that results in playing with fewer players, I think our chances are dramatically improved.

Our set-pieces are so bad, we should just play every single one short from now on.

It’s so frustrating when you see the likes of Sakho, Kelly, Loftus-Cheek and Benteke in the line-up, yet don’t even get excited about winning a corner.

Plus we look super dodgy defending set pieces these days.
