My immediate thoughts were Swansea. He can play the 'Back to his homeland' card, although I am sure he has lived outside Wales almost all his life. Perfect really. Sacked not resigned so he gets his pay off (nearly enough to pay us back). Few weeks off before Christmas then appointed again just after Christmas.

West Brom's managers before Pulis were Pepe Mel and Alan Irvine

I hope they appoint someone similar to those two muppets to finish the job

I can see the comedy sketch now. Relegation-threatened West Brom sack Tony Pulis in order to appoint Tony Pulis, the man they really feel can keep them up.

Good bloody riddance.

Did the dirty on us and now failed at West Brom. Who would want him with those items on his CV ?

Unlikely, most pay offs will pay up the duration of his contract on the understanding he wont work elsewhere for that duration. Anyone that employs him may well have to pay back the money to WBA.

What we as Crystal Palace really need is the West Brom chairman, having waved goodbye to a pragmatist of a manager, now gets pipe dreams about styles of play, putting the ball at risk and a more possession-based pathway to mid-table.
Seven successive defeats without scoring could be handy.

Sounds like FdB might be a good option

Interesting he hasn't even been in with a sniff of a Premier League job since we got rid - rather telling really!

Or any job.

I said at the time his career in any of the top 6 League's in Europe is over unless he rebuilds his reputation again.

Apparently I didn't know what I was talking about though.

It's nice to have a good old chuckle about this (as I did when I heard the news)

The sad truth of the matter is that he walks away with a very handsome pay off and will walk into a job when ever he wants on probably at least as much pay.

Nah

If they sack him they can't tell him when he can work again. Restraint of trade

FdB has always said he would only go to a club in pre-season, so not that interesting.

I think that might only be the case when both parties agree on a split, and therefore the manager accepts a wedge of cash under the circumstances you’ve described.

Pulis won’t have gone willingly, so my guess would be they’ve had to sack him and pay up whatever the clauses in his contract stipulate.

He will therefore be able to work where/when he wishes.

Is it me or are ex palace managers currently going through a tough time?

Pardew - no one will touch him.
Allardyce - Palace was so stressful that he's semi retired. Couldn't go to Everton, not 'good enough' for Wet Ham.
Pulis (aka the thieving ****) - just been sacked.

I was not a fan of the Hodgson appointment, and seem to have been entirely wrong in that regard. Now with hindesight, and given the history between Hodgson and West Brom, I wonder if we were very lucky securing his services when we did. Lets just hope that when Hodgson does leave us he does so in a similar way to Allardyce rather than Pardew or Pulis.
