Well well. our least impressive performance in 6 games and three points! Given the performances we deserve that at least and probably edged it today after the second half. First half I think stoke overall were bette though we created more and were back in our stride for the last 15that half.

Hennessy 7 - nothing wrong. No chance for the goal and a couple of decent stops

Ward 7 - solid and a good few decent contributions going forward. Nothing stopped as a result of him

Tomkins 8 - I’m 50:50 on him or Dann. Today he was our best defender by a mile. Let’s hope he can stay fit and some good competition between our three center backs

Sakho 7 - extra point for the goal. Otherwise it wasn’t great from him. First half looked good defensively but some very poor passing nearly gifted them a goal. Second half he looked shaken defensively with some weak clearneces on top of poor passing. That said some good blocks and clearances too and the goal.

Schlupp 7 - thought he looked good again today. I think left back will be his position simply due to the lack of quality in his final ball. One risky lose pass but otherwise was very good

RLC 7 - anonymous for 30 mins but finally started to get involved first half. Nearly scored but for a block from the defender who knew little about it other than chucking himself in. Very good finish for our first goal, tight space to put the ball and he did. Quality there albeit patchy today but I like him. Be much more exciting if we were to keep him.

Luka 6 - what a Jedi performance. Tough in the tackle etc but this was Jedi on a bad day. His passing was horrible and risky at times. Not always of course, he actually was good in the final third but must have been in double figures for lose passes that gave away posession to stoke and could easily have been punished. Not a great day for him by his own high standards

Cabaye 9 - motm I ******* love this guy. He was everywhere. A good shot when it was tight cannoned off the post for Sakho to score, he really is all action for us. Big man love

Jimmy 7 - substitution probably harsh as one of our better players first half but victim of the right tactical change

Townsend 7 - good assist. Surprisingly with his right foot from the left! Busy display again. A few times final ball let him down but he played well overall

Zaha 8 - dangerous in attack and back stealing the ball from stoke when he could. A threat all day even if he didn’t get a goal or assist

Benteke 6 - he’s not sharp but much improved from last week. We looked much better with him on and his movement was excellent. A few cute backheels and touches didn’t come off and hit the side netting. We looked a better team when he came in and it’ll be good to have him back fireing. Hopefully this was enough to get him sharp for Brighton

Not our Best performance. I think we edged it overall but we won. We deserve more points than we have, these 3 included for our last 6 performances so that’ll do. Poor for 30, but much better for the last 15 first half. I thought we were slightly the better side most of the second.

We got very lucky with thier shocking miss to go on and score a winner. Is that it? Luck changing? We are certainly owed some.

Well done boys.. three points and a few goals from safety

Agree - RLC best down the middle with the two wingers actually playing on the flanks.

Plenty of people do, but we do attract a lot of buffoons who wouldn't know a decent player if they punched them in the face

Hennessey 8... One crucial save and distribution good. No chance with goal.
Ward 6...Energetic but passing poor.
Tomkins 9...MOTM, more to come when fully match fit. I hope.
Sakho 6....Including bonus point for goal. Fatal mistakes are still lurking, and Shaqiri simply ran past him.
Schlupp 7...OK but nothing memorable
Luka 8...Never stopped, first touch can let him down
Cabaye 8...Playing consistently well, dead balls still need work
RLC 8.... So much ability, but still not using it all for 90 mins.
McArthur 7...Worked hard, unlucky to be subbed, but that was tactically correct
Townsend 7... Poor first half with him RLC and Ward getting in each others way on the right. Far better when used on the left.
Zaha 8...Flashes of brilliance, cannot find the space to run at defenders often enough when playing centrally.
Benteke 7...Never looked like scoring, but has plainly been told to improve his movement. Won some good headers too.

Roy 8... Brave correct decision to bring Benteke on at halftime totally justified.

Yeah all fair points but you could also question the use of playing well and getting nothing out of it - stats will always look better if youíve got a goal
or an assist regardless of what else youíve done!

We were hit and miss but the important thing was the win. You need to be able to get points when things are not going your way and we did that.

Tomkins was brilliant and hopefully his partnership with Sakho can go to the levels of last season. The midfield was weak but the defence was much better.

It's only a matter of time until we are out of the bottom three. I can't see us going down.

Bring on the Brighton!

Ward - 6 (still declined in seasons, fosu-mensah should be starting
Milivojevic - 5 (complete passenger, at fault for the goal and lost the number of times after he was again completely ghosted by oncoming stoke players, one of our weak links all season)
Cabaye - 7 (ran his socks off and looked like one of the only players who wanted to win today)

Terrible ratings mate. eg RLC 8 and Wilfred 6? Tompkins less than Sakho? Mental.

We weren`t going to score in 100 years if Benteke stayed off the pitch.

Townsend simply dreadful.

Lotus Cheek, good finish but not a wide player.

Zaha very quiet, but we remain a one man team.

Benteke, waste of space.

Poor performance, great result, especially when Stoke missed that late chance.
Yet all of them performed way better than you do as a pundit. Awful analysis. You need some 'uppers' and quickly.

Hennessy 6 Best keeper at the club. Only one miscommunication with Tompkins nullified by a good stop from Shaqiri.
Ward 4 Weak link. Exposed by Stoke targeting his side (not this first team to do that)
Sakho 7 Clumsy as usual and seemed to lack composure at times but extra point for the winner
Tompkins 8 Solid. Definitely the best partner for Sakho. Excellent in the air.
Schulpp 5 Not great from Jeff but had little cover from Townsend. No major f ups.
Luka 4 Poor effort. Passing awful tackling non existent. At fault for the goal.
Cabaye 7 Never stopped running. Really put in a shift when some around him(see above) looked like they could not be bothered.
RLC 6 Didn’t get going. Touch let him down on occasions. Playing out of position not helping him or us.
Jimmy 5 Put the effort in as always but looked short of the necessary stuff to trouble a big Stoke side.
Townsend 5 Nothing really worked for him although he did put the effort in.
Wilf 6 Similar to Townsend. Seemed like nothing was working for him until he conjured up a little bit of magic for the second goal.
Benteke 5 Did what he does. Won the ball in the air and gave us a focal point for the attack. Another poor finish blotted his copybook.

All in all a lucky three points. We’ve played better and got nothing so I’ll take the points however Hodgson has got to realise Ward is out of his depth and that Luka is in such a poor run he needs replaced. RLC needs to play in the middle and Wilf on the wing. Benteke needs to start with Jimmy on the bench.

I don;t agree with the Townsend dreadful comments. He set up the first goal, made a few important challenges and never stopped running. Not his best performance but certainly not his worst either.

I couldn't disargree more (without being impolite). We made maybe five good scoring opportunities today, including the two goals. Zaha was involved in at least four of them. He helped create the winner. A number of additional opportunities were squandered because his teammates failed to read the play as they should have.

He was a bit quieter today. He played on both wings and centrally. Stoke were well set up, they wanted to frustrate us and take whatever they could. Nethertheless Zaha was vital to this win.

And his goal against Everton represents a good return. His overall play is almost always at a high level. I'm don't think we have reasonable expectations of him anymore.
