That said, we did look pretty solid and it's a decent point. Glad not to lose to that lot and get an away point on the board. Onwards and upwards.
agree RH dont seems to realise that yet, how long does he need to figure it out, points dropped because of this crap formation

Townsend's attempt at a corner in the 1st half might offer some explanation.

This 'crap formation' has seen us pick up form and points, unbeaten at home in 4 games and narrowly losing to Spurs and getting a point away at brighton. I'd say it's both literally and metaphorically getting results. Would still swap Zaha for RLC over mind...

Our first clean sheet and we are OFF THE BOTTOM. There is hope Any other tyeam and we would take a point away to the tream in 9th. I am not unhappy with what I saw from the Red and blue bar. We had two tough spells, the odd chance and mostly defended stoutly. We move on

Not sure RLC looks fit to be honest.

Zaha is absolutely wasted in this formation.

Roy needs to be braver and go for the win more. Tonight we just looked lacking in spirit to attack.

Guys start taking more pop shots. I promise you its our only problem, we are doing everything else right.
RLC shifted towards middle in the last 10min and had a couple shots outside of the box, one blocked and other straight at Ryan. Agreed he looks better when playing in middle.

One disappointment for me was when Wilf had the ball and time right in the middle just outside the box, but instead of shooting or curling one in, he decided to dribble towards the side and ended up getting closed down. Instinctively should have just let one fly!

Everyone gets a 6 from me today. No standout performers who took the game on.

Ref gets zero point for not protecting our players at all against all the cynical fouls. Wilf should have got at least 4-5 more fouls today, not that we'd do anything with the set pieces though. Need to let Townsend taking them corners and free kicks instead of Cabaye.

Both ours and Brightons defences were absolutely solid. Effectively neutralised each others attacks to a bore draw... still better 1 point than none

Seeing that pic of Wilf and Wilbraham on one of these threads reminded me that genuinely I would rather have Wilbraham in our next game, over Benteke; at least the ball would stick.

What I love about Roy is that he learns very quickly so I'm certain he'll start playing wilf wide again. The bigger issue issue is that we can't replace benteke until January

Strange game all round tbh. Both teams knew what it meant to the supporters so both set out not to lose. Even the crowd (stupid fireworks aside) seemed a bit low.

Nevertheless a clean sheet and a point. On to the next...

Benteke won header after header. Not his fault that the formation doesn't allow for any support for all the work he does.

Fairly dull affair in the end. Nice to get a first away point and a clean sheet.

Attack looks disjointed. Very frustrating to watch our more gifted players **** up simple 5 yard passes in our approach play.

What was encouraging was that we were uninspiring going forward but still more dangerous, away from home, against a team mid-table at the moment. It adds to the comforting feeling that our position at the bottom of the table won't be for long. Could and should have won again, a lamentable motif for the season, but at least we look highly competitive most games and the results will come if we keep that up.
