Perhaps it’s an age thing, but I think many of us that grew up watching football in the 1970’s and 80’s don’t get so worried about keepers being injured.

It’s true we are obviously weakened with Speroni probably out for the remaining games, but some of the greatest keepers had to make their debuts in similar circumstances, Banks, Shilton even our own John Jackson - so should we have to rely on the young lad Henry, we should give him our backing.

We had a goalkeeping crisis in years where we promoted, in 1977, regular keeper Tony Burns got injured in the warm up before our last home match and midfielder Nicky Chatterton had to play the entire game in goal (we had let our previous first choice keeper Paul Hammond go to Tampa Bay earlier that year) - we only had a teenager, Peter Caswell left, who played in the vital last match away to Wrexham.

When we went up in 2004 we went through several keepers, with Matt Clarke retired through injury, we largely relied on Cedric Berthelin and had Thomas Myhre briefly on loan from Sunderland, before Nico Vaesan came on loan and helped us through the last few games and the Play Offs.

I still believe we are in a position to get an emergency loan keeper aswell. I thought Wayne did a suberb job on Sunday and all we can do as Palace fans is give him all our support in the matches coming up.

To your knowledge, have we ever had anyone commit suicide on a BBS forum?

You missed out the despair felt whenever Budgie was out and David Fry had to play.

It's a very good point I remember all of that. I had a debate on here a few years back with a younger fan who thought it was extremely important to have a keeper on the bench, and I pointed out this was a luxury that never used to even exist. Most of us would agree that a keeper is almost never subbed for having a poor game (insert Hennessey joke here), almost only ever replaced if injured. Therefore when you think how often keepers are injured and need to be replaced it isn't that often. But given the shocking luck we have had with injuries lately I still reckon we could do with another keeper

Good save from Suarez to tip over. Decent command of the area.

Clean sheet at the Nou Camp!

Comfortably MOTM. Some superb saves from Messi and Suarez.

Will find Burton Albion away a cinch.
