We needed a match winner yesterday, not players picking splinters out of their arses , the game just fizzled out and we dropped 2 points to a poor side in a game that was imperative we won, your assessment is clearly contradictory

I can't remember Benteke getting a hattrick, yesterday, but I do recall him missing a couple of clear goal opportunities, and also remember Wilf and PvA putting over a few crosses where he was nowhere to be seen. Sarloth must have been itching to get on. A missed opportunity and two more points down the pan.

Did we have a match winner on the bench?

Quadruple leg break if our bad luck with injuries persists

So, you think he's a match winner? Great to hear that not everyone is negative about our new striker.

Every single player in the bench has the potential to be a match winner , it only takes a split second to score a goal, even our 17 year old 5'10 youth team keeper

Bet spurs manager glad he brought on his subs one scored and the other won the penalty in last minute sometimes it's just worth rolling the dice.

They wouldn't have been doing that if we had won. I saw the reaction at the end of the game as a reflection of the fact they'd all put in a massive effort but not got the three points that effort deserved.

If you want to talk about players looking exhausted watch Shelvey for the final 20 minutes.

I think Cheungy could have done a job for last 15 mins. He would have been good against tiring legs. I like him and think he an ideal man to come on late in games

We were on top in the second half for long periods, but there was still a danger that Newcastle might have nicked a winner from one of their counters. The only player really that we had available who might have made a difference was Sorloth, but if the staff felt he wasn't really match fit then bringing him on into a game in that situation could have been a mistake.

Apart from outlying loons like Kylie, most of us think Roy has done an excellent job so far with what he has available to him, so let's put a little faith in his decisions. He'll make mistakes, as anyone will, from time to time but this wasn't one of them IMO.

Roy has seen him train and made a judgement call on that. Replacing a 30m striker with a fella that was worth 300k 6 months ago, am not sure about that.

I think that's true. He was exhausted and became less and less effective. But the fact is that Benitez had made 3 substitutions, so couldn't take him off.

But isn't that possibly the issue? Benitez is also clearly not pleased with the depth of his squad, but was still prepared to use three of them off the bench to replace players who were tiring. I just think that that extra bit of energy in the last 10 minutes of so can potentially make such a difference

From Benitez's comments after the game, he was worried about our attacking players and made changes to try to counter that. Which struck me as weird bearing in mind the players he bought on. Diame particularly was an odd sub, I thought he'd had a good game until then. Merino was very entertaining though.

We certainly know he's capable of a pinpoint through ball to the striker
