Diamond/narrow midfield to keep it nice and tight. Townsend up front with Benteke for his pace. Get PVA forward. Grind it out. Pray for RLC's return asap.
So what magic sponge are you using to get Wilf on his feet?

Hennessey
TFM - Tomkins - Sakho - PVA
Townsend-Luka-Cabaye-McArthur
Sorloth - Benteke

Subs - Henry, Souare, Ward, Jach, Reidewald, Rakip, Lee

Based on his love for 4-4-2, the fact he has chosen TFM over Ward recently, and that Souare has been making the bench.

It's not our best but we have probably put out worse this season already and it just goes to show how big a hole there is in the side of 'the good ship CPFC'.

Picking a side that can play will be tougher and take more thinking about.
I think it’s ridiculous that we can’t even put out a full team of players with long term injuries. Total negligence from Parish and the board. Surely we could have loaned someonr from overseas with a pre existing injury? We are now reliant on picking up a few knocks in training or picking up an ageing, grossly unfit out of contact player?

Could see Riedewald coming in as a narrow left mid and McArthur pushed forward and central behind Benteke as think that's his best role. Just don't see Roy throwing Sorloth into a starting line up.

Ward Tomkins Sakho PVA
Townsend Luka Cabaye Riedewald
McArthur

So an attempt at a team from the walking wounded.

Hennessey

TFM -- Tomkins -- Sakho -- PVA

Townsend -- Milivojevic -- Macca -- Riedewald

Cabaye

Benteke

This 11 would probably better suit this though.

Hennessey

TFM -- Tomkins -- Sakho -- PVA

Milivojevic -- Riedewald

Townsend -- Cabaye -- Macca

Benteke

The latter leaves room for PVA to move forward when given the chance but keeps us solid. Would allow Andros/Yo/Macca to put pressure on them when we don't have the ball and join Benteke in turns when attacking. Sitting deep as we started against Newcastle is a bad idea.

So you would play a Striker new to the club having never put on a Palace shirt, but also having not played a competitive game since November in what will be a tricky away game.
Surely he needs to start on the bench and see how the game is going then introduce with say 20 minutes left, which is what i felt we should have done on Saturday as that would have been the perfect time to have introduced him.
I assume Zaha must be injured? hence why left out and the inclusion of Sorloth, but i dont think Roy will be so adventerous in an away game to start with him.

You haven't seen the meltdown that Zaha is out for months? (no confirmation of how long yet but is injured)

I agree that the game Saturday was crying out for Sorloth to come on for the last 15-20 minutes and was frankly surprised that he was not introduced to the action, but maybe the issue was more who to take off?

Given he likes the 4-4-2 and Sorloth is the only other player we have resembling an attacking player/striker then anything else is effectively a formation change away from 4-4-2 to on of the many permutations around a 4-5-1. That is tempting for many of us but Roy likes his 4-4-2.

Cant see Sorloth starting. If it's 4-4-2, more likely to see Townsend sort of up front with Benteke, and Lee in a wider but narrow midfield role. But the solution surely is 4-5-1, just get Benteke to work his socks off knowing a sub will be made with 20 to go.

+1 for Townsend up with Benteke. McArthur on the right, Reidewald on the left.

obviously losing Zaha is massive. I would suggest we have to go long and get around Benteke and Sorloth for knock downs. It's agricultural but I don't see any other way. We need to dig out 4 wins from some where.

Henno

We are so much better 4-5-1 with Mcarthur central. PvA is very good going forwarding and has a good delivery on him.

Benteke to work his tits off and Sorloth to come on to replace him.

Get Sorloth in there - either he's good enough or why did we buy him? He's a very fit young bloke (oo-er) so I imagine he's been keeping himself training. He may be slightly rusty but we'll have to get him up to speed quickly. We have no other attacking options.
