Had a great opportunity when running with the ball on the left hand side second half to drive into the box and then fire something across goal.

Even then he tried to cut inside onto his weaker right foot. It is bizarre why he does it so often.

True, like I said he has been a real let down, yet some still think he is a class player for us. Strange.

No doubt some of you will think i am mad but lest rest some players ahead of some winable games and lets see what the players we bought in have to offer for the fight ahead and lets be honest we are not gonna beat utd even with the team we had out today

Benteke should also donate his wages to charity until he scores again
What a grim 11 that is.

He has been disappointing, just like Benteke and yet both of them are still responsible for scoring or setting up 1/3 of our goals from open play, and Wilf is about the same.

It is certainly not clicking for Benteke, his timing of off his confidence is low and his a shadow of last season. He is however also missing any sort of service. How many balls like the one Andros delivered at Leicester has he had this season. We should be getting 2 wide men down the wings, get to the byline and deliver a ball across, 1 big man across the near post, 1 looking for the cross to the back post.

We don't seem to have a plan on how we are looking to score goals. Lots of shape, lots of effort and working hard but very little craft, invention or plan.

You could have stopped when you said he is a shadow. That is what he is now, just a shadow.

Off the point a bit , but wish we had a Jordan Ayew type forward at the club and someone in midfield with a bit of pace and energy . Even with full squad we lack this - have done for years ?

Is Puncheon coaching him?

Its because he's left footed and plays on the right its the natural thing to do. Its difficult to edge past an fb without putting the ball at risk.

I really don't understand how this has come about and why he doesn't play on the left to make it easier to put crosses in, we could certainly do with them.

This. I cannot understand. Towsend is so ineffective on the right it's painful. Get him down the left and tell him to whip in crosses at every opportunity. It's poor from Hodgson that he has allowed that to continue imo. I know he doesn't have many options but I'd rather see McCarthur or Lee on the right and Townsend on the left. The thought of watching another game where Townsend slowly meanders down the right wing only to cut back on to his left and waste a crossing opportunity is too much!

However if you read my post earlier, when he was attacking down the left on Sunday, he didn't blast to the byline and get a cross in he tried to cut inside onto his right and lost the ball.

Its not about playing right or left, it is about his focus on cutting inside to the middle of the pitch. My feeling is that it is because that is where he has the best opportunity to shoot and he is selfish but i may be completely wrong on that.

We almost did, his name was Niasse.

TBF none of us were that excited about that prospect, but looking at how the season has turned out, it does look like an opportunity missed.

Interesting though how Tosun seems to have got on so far at Everton...very slow start for him.

Not anymore they wouldn't...and Benteke hasn't given any opposition defender sleepless nights before a game in months, and they certainly don't wet themselves during a game. That is the problem, Benteke has become a non-threat.

So far the only thing he is getting credit for is a bit of defending. On that basis I'd rather have TFM up front.

I expect it to be this:

Tomkins
Kelly
Wan Bissaka

Luka
Jimmy Mac
Jairo

Townsend
Benteke
Sorloth

Not holding out much hope of Sakho, Cabaye or Ward playing a part.

Pretty much. Otherwise,

Hen

Van B Jach Delaney PvA

Rakip Macca Milivojevic Townsend

Benteke Sorloth

Worry for the 'defence' obviously but need to put pegs in the right holes where possible. Obviously that isn't at RB but Van B did ok against Spurs on the whole and will be supported by the crowd. Goes without saying that any returns for Sakho, Tomkins or Wilf will massively improve confidence for this one and make the defence look far better.
