Plenty of Vaseline around the anus, tougher condoms and amal nitrate because Brighton would be giving it to us all the time.

There's a point at which positivity becomes delusion. Some posts are edging ever closer to this point.

It would be as irresponsible to not be planning for the possibility of Championship football now as it would to go into a season with one striker and two keepers, and to not resolve that situation fully at the first opportunity.

Yes lets plan for the championship after 5 years in the premier league and buy what we've needed for the last two seasons now going down is a distinct possibility

To be honest if we go down the requirements will remain the same. Albeit the challenge becomes a different one in the Championship. Employ people to run the football side of things who know what they are doing and let them do it. Try and scout players properly and bring some talented young players into the club. Have a clear strategy that everyone buys into and stick to it. In fact this should be our approach should we stay up.
I understand that sentiment, however once back in the championship, given the traumatic time we have had in the EPL with constant managerial changes, no real sense of developing a sustainable football style, a poor scattergun transfer policy with a sprinkle of over-priced under-performing 'marque' signings and the abandonment of bringing youth players into the team, any manager will be given at least two years by the fans to get things right. We need to rebuild properly this time, and David Hopkins strikes me as a man who can do a good job.

If we can retain a nucleus of players around Lukas, Sorloth, Tomkins (hopefully), Wickham (perhaps), Schlupp, Wan-Bissaka, Sako (perhaps) Puncheon, Riedewald, MacArthur (if we are lucky), maybe a fit Jonny Williams, add in the likes of Jach, Loliko, Lumeka, Kirby and Dreher, and get a few choice recruits from the EFL or SPFL like Mark Marshall (Charlton) and Ryan Christie (Aberdeen), next season could be enjoyable and with a purpose

Sell, keep and out of contract would be an interesting exercise.

Sorloth and Wickham upfront
Sako, loliko and kirby out wide (Zaha would surely leave)
Mcarthur riedewald and luka in midfield
Schlupp tomkins dann wann bissaka at the back
Hennessey in goal

Played 28, points 27. Assuming 38 stays up.

IF...we get one point from Hudderfield and one from Man u, Chelsea or Liverpool.

This leaves 9 points needed from last 6. IF ....we can beat WBA at home on that final game of the Season this would mean 6 pts from the last five leading up to WBA, of:

Bournemouth (A)
Brighton (H)
Watford (A)
Leicester (H)
Stoke (A)

I'd be gutted if we were relegated and started with this line up.

It's naive to think in the championship Kirby and Lokilo will put us up the top end of the league.

We need a massive rebuild.

The thing is the Championship is getting tougher by the year, particularly with the upheaval that would take place with our squad.

I wouldn't expect us to go back up first time round unless we offloaded the big earners and restrengthened really well.

We need to establish our identity back on the pitch to reflect what is a Palace outfit. The club needs to engage with the supporters more for what they want. A Palace side is traditionally a team with pace to burn out wide whilst being tough and compact in the middle. I think we can set the foundations in that manner and be successful going forwards.

We need to really set guidelines for our transfer policy going forwards which allows us to continually strengthen to avoid any kind of stagnation.

I'd imagine Zaha, Townsend, Cabaye, Sakho, Benteke, Tomkins and Luka to all go for decent money mind and really free up wages.

It would leave a massive rebuild job however.

The type of player we should be looking at are the young players who are doing well at that level. Ollie Watkins would provide that spark across the front three. John Egan in the same Brentford side looks a solid player whilst being good on the ball. The players are there.

I think SP needs to sit down with Freedman, Hodgson, Ray and Reid to formulate something. Reid for me is very intelligent when I've heard him and he saw recently what it took for Reading to perform well in the league below.

I know Freedman is the sporting director but we really crave a head of recruitment.

Agree totally. It really seems if you dare to post anything remotely negative, you're a troll or the like. We could very easily go down this season and to be quite frank we would have deserved it. The supporters we would lose are the ones who know nothing about life outside of the Prem but they will be back when we are.

I agree we should have a back up plan in case of relegation but there is no way that Palace should be struggling like this, especially with some of the crap teams in this division.

It's so self-inflicted.
