Take a look at all of our wins and then you will see he has been a massive part of them, now thats not to say he has been good but without him we are a worse team. I would play him behind Sorloth. Schlupp is no way good enough as a attacking player so as PVA has done well i would keep him at L/B but RH may shift him to R/B with Schlupp L/B.

He'd score more goals coming on for the last 20 minutes.

So you didn't rate Wan-Bissaka then?

I think playing Benteke in the hole might not be a bad idea though.

Can be and should be dropped, particularly against the likes of Man Utd where a hard working forward is crucial.

Who do you drop him for? Sorloth is raw, and while he’s tried hard enough in his two games, he has tired towards the end and it’s debatable whether he’s ready to be thrown in to lead the line against a top 4 team; especially with the absence of our main attacking player.

This.

He can not be dropped unless you feel Sorloth is more likely top come good than Ben.

Roy will keep him in and hopefully he will go on a little run

His form over the past several weeks would suggest he should and i have also suggested we maybe should start with Sorloth as a lone striker which may give him more freedom in that position to express himself.
But can we afford risk putting a rookie as lone striker who is not just finding but learning his way in the premiership up against not just top class International but also physically large defenders they have is a massive gamble and risk to take, which i dont think Roy will risk.
I dont think we have an alternative as we do need to pose a physical threat up front, as we are without the guile of Zaha will mean playing BOTH to offer any sembelance of a goal threat which we know CB is more than capable off.

Play him behind Sorloth - do you mean in a more deep lying role such as Chamakh executed superbly when fit?? Not sure Benteke has either the brains or the application for such a role but I guess desperate times dictate desperate measures.

If he ends the season with fewer goals under his belt then the likes of Chris Jones and Tommy Langley managed for us in the early 80s then it is a sorry state of affairs. Let's hope he wakes up tomorrow and smashes Smalling into the net along with the ball.

False no.9 for 70mins, then bring BigBen on for the final 20 & told to chase everything down, including lost causes, resulting in a rushed clearance from their make shift backline & a goal for us. 1-0 Palace. Simple.

Trouble with your theory is that we could be 3-0 down by then.

If Sørloth does tire towards the end then it is ideal that Benteke comes off the bench to replace him. As for leading the line against a top 4 side, Benteke has barrly been doing that so we wont miss much. He wins headers but doenst offer any runs into the box or harassing the defenders. Dropping him will send a big message to him, nothing else has worked.

As it stand watching Benteke is not much different to watching Akinbiyi except Akinbiyi was more mobile and I used to be a supporter of big Ben

Which, to be fair, is the kind of frontman who'd succeed here - and the kind of frontman we thought we were getting when he signed. For such a big unit he looks incredibly timid on the pitch. He needs to pull out all the stops now, I'd say his career depends on it.

I think he should and I think it may do him some good. Let him see the game from a different perspective.

Plus Sorloth needs to be playing where he'll be most effective through the middle, it won't do him no favours being a make shift wide man.

Some might say we're not raining goals because he's the one playing upfront...
