Goldmine Rules (as agreed by regulars on this board)

A Goldmine Bet is one that is:

1. Very likely to win
2. Backed up by detailed reasoning as to WHY it will win
3. Minimum odds of 1.5 (or 1/2)

How to create a neat formatted table as below:

(I got this from the Motley Fool website where they have various discussions about it (as it is a financial website where people want to post Excel tables)


1. Create table in Excel as normal

2. Save as 'Formatted Text (space delimited)' - this adds the .prn suffix to the file

3. Open the Notepad application

4. Go to 'Open' and in the line 'Files of type' choose 'All Files'

5. Open your saved Excel document which will have .prn suffix

6. This should be lined up neatly in rows and columns

7. Copy and paste into your post using the 'code' tags

BTW i think El mico said something about only bets that are over 1.6, but as my first was at 1.52 when i posted I think we'll go with over 1.5 bets (or 1/2 for those who like fractions)

Bah, bloody fractions. Decent offer for beginners such as myself at Ladbrokes (sorry, I know this isn't the thread for it really, but while I'm here, ya know?). off topic (promise it's my only one...well tonight for this thread at least) but cheers for that Wingy, Ladbrokes go 10/1 on Lampard to score 1st which is bigger than anyone so was thinking of joining up anyway, shall do it right now

Only just seen this LL, nice shout and would like to think I would have been on with your success rate

Nice one LL, a winning start to the goldmine.

So Goldmine balance currently stands at 1/1 +0.49. One unit per stake.

For those unaware this thread should be for serious bets only, i.e those which you think have a very good chance of winning. All other bets should be put on the normal betting thread.

Anyone can post a pick up here but in interests of quality control - 2 losing bets = a month ban from the betting goldmine.

Ideally full details of the bets should be given early as possible so everyone can get on.

All bets should be priced at above 1.5.

This is a half-serious attempt to make some cash so let's see how it goes....

WOW! Didn't take long to get the price hammered. now down to 5/6 but with everyone else offering pavel at a best of 8/11, Hills is still the stand out price.

Still worth doing at 5/6.

I had a little dabble this afternoon at Chester, two seconds at 16/1, 15/2 and a 4th at 8's (got the place) in an each way patent and a single on Lake Garda which i got at 11/1 but which won at 8's. Not a bad day's work! Didn't know to tell anyone here though
