Joe Cole

I have seen West Ham several times this season, including the Spurs game last week and I think Cole is very overrated. He is full of tricks but does all his work inside his own half and never produces a really penetrating pass. Time and again he got the ball, beat the nearest opponent (and got a big round of applause) and just laid it off to the nearest player. He had several opportunities to run at opponents but just passed.

The media are in love with him but next time West Ham are on the box watch him carefully and you will see what I mean.

Can't agree with this at all.

Never produces a penetrating pass???

Cole took a long time to get settled and was indeed anonymous at times.

However this season he has been phenomenal. Careful, or I'll be posting his Opta stats

Go for it Gaffer. I saw a comparison of him to Roy Keane after the FA cup game and Keane beat him in every department. I know Keane is arguably the best midfielder in the premiership, but I was surprised to see such a large gap between them.

Having said this I think Cole is quality.

They are tottaly different players! Cole is the creative player in the west ham side, he bursts with energy, and helps create chances.

Roy Keane defends, what is known to be his midfield territory. It is only on certain occasions that he comes out of this territory. He is the sweeper, in the Man Utd squad.

Cole is derinatly a quality player but sometimes he does try and take on a few too many players when he can just play it simple and move on!

One day the tricks will fail him!

I know that, but Keane had made more passes inside the opposition half, and more successful ones. Which was my point.

My point exactly. Cole is flashy but ineffective.

Er... Keane has also played much more football! Of course he has made more passes.
