Andy Morell

I heard that Wrexham striking sensation Andy Morell is out of contract. Come on he could be the answer to our problems up front. Has been linked with QPR, a play-off candidate in division 2. 34 goals in a promotion winning Wrexham team this season, surely could get a few for Palace

Nothing yet to say he isn't a one-season wonder, he's also been linked with a move to WBA.

I checked out his stats a while ago after seeing the amount of goals he's got this season. If I recall correctly he's about 28, so where has he been the rest of his career?

There were young 'uns at Bristol City and Swindon that looked a better bet for picking up cheap players from lower divisions, but Robert Earnshaw at Cardiff would be my favourite. Unfortunately he signed a 5 year deal earlier in the season and Manure have already been sniffing around, so I doubt that will ever happen.

Morrell was a very late developer. He came into league football so late that he made Ian wright look like an apprentice. I think he was knocking around with a really low level non-league team before he moved to Wrexham, and then took a couple of years to nbecome a first team regular. Doesn't sound like what we are after.

Apparantly he's mates with Rob McCaffery (Sky Sports/Talk Sport presenter). As you say, he was knocking around in low level non league and asked whether Rob knew any league team where he could go and train/get a trial with, so Rob called his mate (the manager of Wrexham) and got him a trial! Now he's their top scorer!

Be grateful - we've only had about 20 players mentioned so far. More than that were released yesterday, I reckon there has to be another 100 or so Bosman's, not to mention "bargin buys" for us to consider so far, and more being let go every day.

The kids signed for Coventry

Sky sports
Coventry City have completed the signing of Wrexham striker Andy Morrell on a two-year contract.
The 28-year-old forward was out of contract with the Red Dragons despite having set a new post-war club record of 34 goals as the Welsh side won promotion to the second division.

Started off at Newcastle Blue Star, and didn't join Wrexham til he was 23.

Could be a great signing for Coventry. Not sure he's worth the £4,000 a week they are paying him, but we'll see next season!

best mate of Rob Mcraffery by all accounts. Even Rob was quite honest and frank in whether he could make the step up.

I'd personally go for the Brazilian striker up at Walsall always looked pretty good and has a decent goal scoring record for a poor team, also shouldn't take much money to get Walsall to part with him.
