Anthony McGrath
Looks like a good player from his innings at lords and yesterdays knock at Chester-le-street, hope him and Stewart both go on and get tons.

Batted very well, along with Stewart who continues to be far and away the best wicket keeper/batsmen in the country despite his age.

I'm not convinced that a good series against Zimbabwe translates into a long testcareer. A promising start though.

you can only beat what is in front of you! so 2 half centurys in 2 matches is a good start. I am not so worried about the batting, but more about the bowlers - i am not too sure whether johnson anderson.... are really of the same standard as gough caddick white flintoff hoggard! getting 2 or 3 against zimbabwe is good but if they get a few against SA or pak... teams that are good i will believe that they could be the future!

Surely Johnson and Anderson are not that bad? ![]() You've got two young bowlers taking numerous wickets, all be it against rubbish opposition, and you want to try and compare them to a bunch of no-hopes? Best thing England could do would be to forget about Gough, Caddick and White and give the young bowlers a good run in the side. |

McGrath has entered the stage against some really p!ss poor oppostion tho' BUT he does actually look like a very good and correct player. He's got that thingy that helps you succeed on the higher level, another great spot from Fletcher.
When playing for Yorks he is very much a class act IMO but not sure If he will stay in the side when Flintoff comes back. Having a batsman a 7 against SA's 'strong' batting attack hmmmm..... BTW I'm taking it as read that Key will make way for Thorpe later in the Summer.... |

Couldn't agree more. Caddick in particular has shown time and again that he goes missing when he chips are down. And Craig White..well!
