Australia vs a proper football country

Austalia vs Ireland
Aug 19th, 2003 at Lansdowne Road

Another "meaningless" friendly

Should be much more difficult than our previous "meaningless" friendly.

http://www.socceraustralia.com.au/pu...02&menuItemID=

Popovic selected.
Tim Cahill training with the squad pending a decision by FIFA whether or not he can play for Australia. Played for some minnows in the South Pacific for 10 minutes when he was 14 or something.

Should be a good game.

You're as bad as the Americans - the home team always is written first in a fixture.

daniel, we play them in perhaps the only true meaningful game we play in as a country, international rules, always close...
as for the football, expect another meaningless win for Australia.

i'll go for 2 zip us this time !

It does happen most years, very physical and competitive stuff. Friendly is not the word in that competition. Might find it late night on Sky or Eurosport perhaps.

I chose to put the more important team first in my title BTW

Good to see i share some good ideas with other people then! Didn't know they actually did it! Might have to look out for it

As for the football.. 3 days after the Prem season starts? Surely not a very good idea??

Must be at Ireland's request (suppose they wanted some quality opposition) because our next "meaningful" game isn't until we play our WC playoff in 2005

We did, but aussies like oz-eagle can only trap off when they win, & when they lose, don't say f**k all & then claim they don't follow that particular sport. Although if they were to beat us, what's the betting the mouthy non-entity will be straight on here shouting his mouth off???

Ireland will dick the ozzies 3-0 or 4-0 easy.

I'll give my reasons in the morning when I'm sober, but still it will be an easy game for the Irish and good luck to them.
