PS2 Online
Getting broadband turned on on Wednesday, and have bought the gaming router modem for it aswell. I have just also bought the PS2 adapter and wondered what games people recommend for online play. I already have SOCOM.

Don't bother. Get an X-box. GTA (this xmas) looks miles better on the screen shpts for X-box, X-box Live is superb and dead simple to set up and Pro Evolution cannot be long before making the short journey to the best console on the planet.

Right. Job done. Lets see how many of the f**kers will bite....

Naa, SOCOM is brilliant, I have my PS2 online, you won't be dissapointed, and you don't have to pay that £40 annual fee like XboX and I here PS2 are gonna rip off the buddy list thing anyways so PS2 online will be just as good, especially with a 40gb hd being released next year for around £50

Yeah Rock'n'Roll. But why buy inferior kit.

The only thing the PS2 has got as advantages are a couple of exclusive games (Pro Evo and GTA for now)...the developers have realised they were stupid to tie up exclusivity deals with Sony and are back tracking fast.

Oh and my hard drive came as standard

Quite seriously what online games can you get on PS2. I'm curious and someone should really answer Smith Eagle!

I'm not quite sure whether you're taking the p*ss Samo...if you ain't got broadband it's all a bit of a non starter innit?!?!?

Socom II: Gonna have all the old levels and loads new. Superb.
Medal Of Honour: Another similar SOCOM game, looks good.
Everquest Online: RPG game, dunno much about, not my thing.
KillZone: Cant wait for this one, looks like a bit of a rip off of HALO but even better.They say will be one of the greatest games.
Gran Turismo 4: Always been regarded as one of the best racing games ever.

I hear most the EA titles coming out now for PS2 will be online available which is good, which isn't available on the Xbox because EA and Microsoft had some disagreement.

There are limit amount of decent online titles now, but they are gonna all start flooding out in November onwards.

I have heard that Eversquest will have a charge for playing.
I know that most EA games will be online, Tiger woods has an online option. Also there is Midnight club run 2.

The problem with the EA games online (and the reason I believe that they fell out with Microsoft and thus the reason why xbox doesn't get the benefit) is that they want to use their own dedicated servers for online play.

No problem? Obviously just Microsoft getting their proverbials in a twist about nothing.

There's (allegedly) more. The reason EA wants it's own servers in use is so that when they release next years version of FIFA, NHL, etc they can shut down the servers of the previous version thus forcing fans to upgrade. If they put their games on Microsoft servers they were not prepared to let them do this.

Personally, I think that stinks and I won't be buying EA again in a hurry.

Mind you. I could just be wrong.

Been playing SOCOM all week, no lag, quality! (shame i no good at it, getting better though).

Bought FIFA 2004 today, being a big FIFA fan in the past, the past year and a bit ive turned to PES. So gonna need a while to get back into FIFA controls/gameplay before challenging some spotty jobless teen online !
