Maybe Pardew wants to pack the midfield and play a double diamond triangle 1-8-1 formation!

hayden - can play at the back
lomas - always injured
hutch - past it
ethington - left winger
carrick - on his way to the premiership
horlock - holding midfielder
lee - way past it
noble/mcmahon - fringe players

reo will play in the middle with horlock, nowland as back up in midfield or striker.

I know he's injured, but I thought Garcia was highly rated as an attacking midfielder...

If they can't get in the West Ham team, the chances are they wouldn't get in too ours either.

Not too sure about mcmahon but Noble was on-loan at Watford and didn't do much there. I'd prefer we went for a player with more first team experiance.

Which is why we could get players with a bit of experience, as PhilD says, and not just go for players that cannot get into a average London outfit.

A hammer's point of view:

David Noble has a really good left peg and is excellent from dead ball situations but is a bit slow, in terms of both pace and thought - may improve as he gets older though.

Garcia has been rated by every manager at WHU, but not the fans and he is lacking confidence big time - may do him a favour to go to Palace as it would be a fresh start.

No thanks. The last player we signed on low confidence didn't exactly set the league alight - a certain Ade Akinbiyi. Taxi!

No, Elliot Ward, Chris Cohen and MARK Noble (not related) are the three that are looking like the best prospects at the moment. Ward would probably have figured for the 1st team if he hadn't been injured this season.

True - but assuming the first teams are more or less equal, the question has to be why if the player can't make the first team at XXX, should be a first teamer at Palace? I'd say we look at Premiership reserves, but not first Division reserves - unless we're looking at players on a free on whom it might be worth taking a chance.

well he was a premier reserve last season with west ham - brady thought he would actually make the grade at arsenal at one time.

and with the case of west ham i know there midfield contains at least a couple of players keeping him out that we wouldnt have minded - hayden and reo-coker.

..and he'll stay a reserve for the foreseeable future! Not a good signing for you guys unless you get him on a free, and only want him as a squad player - he won't improve your midfield. maybe supplement it.
