Full Story:
Thailand's rising striker, Teerathep "Leesaw" Winothai, has had his contract terminated by English first division side Crystal Palace as he has been unable to get a work permit. A disappointed Teerathep returned home yesterday after spending two years as a junior with Palace. There had been hopes that Teerathep would be the first Thai to play for the first team of an English league side. Teerathep was 16 when he signed the contract to be a student and player at Brentwood School for three years. He played regularly for Palace's junior team and later with the Under 19 squad. However , this season there have been changes amongst the staff coaches at Palace and Teerathep has not been getting as many games as before. Teerathep's father, Thepchai, who is a sports reporter at Daily News, said that to get a work permit the player has tp represent his country in 75% of matches over thr past two years. He said that although Teerathep was in the SEA Games squad it is not regarded as the senior national team. Thepchai said that for the immediate future he would like his son to play for one of the clubs in the Thailand league but did not specify which one. |

Obviously not the full national side. Shame
![]() Nothing to do with Palace not wanting him to stay.

This is the same player that was said to be unlikely to become a prominant first team player as he simply does not have the build to play football?

I doubt we were making a penny. To say the change of staff reduced his games seems a little odd - he hardly played before. I doubt Palace are that bothered, he hardly ever made the reserves and I believe didn't always feature in the age group side - and that is at pretty much the same age as Routledge, Borrowdale and Watson and older, I believe than Soares. Think he simply wasn't good enough, and the work permit was rather useful. |

One of my best friends went with him for three years.
She is still a bit hung up on him i think, however he wasn't that famous when they were going out,

I'm not in the least bit surprised by this.
I can't say at any time, that he ever really looked like he'd make it (like Craig Dobson really). |
