Coventry Police

Just reading in another thread about how a Palace fan was praising the Coventry Police. Just wanted to put across another point of view...

On leaving the station we as most were after a swift pint pre match. En-route to the centre we were met with around 30 palace fans who had been turned back from the centre by the Police for reasons unknown. We were then forced into the same escort by the old bill and marched back to a pub near the station. The pub we were told would be open at 12 and we would be escorted to the ground at 12.30, fine we thought if by no means ideal. 12.15 came and went and not a sniff of stella in sight..!!
In the group were a family consisting of a 78 year old man, his son, and his 12 year old boy. The plod in all there wisdom refused the group to break the escort and kindly offered the 78 year old to get in a taxi on his own to the ground!!! Eventually the elderly gent and a another were allowed to break away.
After a 45 minute walk with promises that beer was available in the ground we find that the closest thing to alcohol is a Steak and Ale pie.

There was no sign of any trouble en-route to the ground, in fact we did not even see any Cov fans until 400 yards from the ground. My point is that i got branded as a potential trouble maker for walking in a subway at the wrong time. It is a disgrace that you cannot walk to football match freely and that the Cov police take it upon themselves to paint everyone with the same brush.
