Palace Pubs in Cardiff Info

I have just spoken to South Wales Police in Cardiff regarding the pubs we might be 'allocated' on saturday. The woman I spoke to in 'Major Events' told me there was no official segregation but that Palace were in the civic section of town and that West Ham are based in the Bay area (behind the train station in relation to the stadium).

Westgate Street (along side the stadium) has a couple of LARGE pubs. I just thought I'd let you know as some of the other places that have been mentioned are comparatively small. Last year I used the pubs on Westgate St and also the Prince of Wales (Wetherspoon - to the right of Cardiff Central station) for the play-offs. These pubs have 2 or 3 floors and the atmosphere generated here can be electric. For the last two years they appear to be "first come, first served' as far as 'claiming' these pubs for ourselves is concerned. If palace get there 1st they are likely to become 'Palace-only'.

Just thought I'd let you know as I know people are trying to arrange meeting places in Cardiff.

I cannot remember the name of the Wetherspoons pub on Westgate street, but I was in it for the Carling Cup final, its got two floors and two bars. It was chokkka, but the problem that day (Sunday) it opened at 10:30am for only food and soft drinks . By the time they were allowed to serve alchol at midday it was heaving. It took 45 mins to get served BUT for the first hour the upstairs bar was not open. Once that opened it was much better. There was a great atmosphere in the pub.
I have checked the 'Good Beer Guide' and found a few pubs around Cardiff and am gonna give them a look!!!

There are many. My personal favourite is the Thai Empire opposite the Train station - Cardiff Central.

I love Thai and Chinese, but my mates insist on an Indian. Got any Indian restaurant recommendations ?

just in case you were considering it - I wouldn't bother with the Walkabout - the landlord has agreed to show wall to wall West Ham videos etc so they are taking over that one with their bubble machines

Yeah, hammers will get the PoW, we'll get the gatekeeper. Other than that they'll have the bigger pubs, but we get the quantity if the split is roundabout halfway down westgate street.
