Nothing in here lately from Sandy. Either she's still on her 'last' packet of fags or she's bottled it ?!?!?!

I'm ashamed to say I haven't started yet. The last packet turned into another couple. The intention is still there though.

Is it really easy or just bearable? How many a day did you smoke Ash and for how long?

I've seen how hard addicted people find it. I still think the habit is harded=r than the addiction. It's lke any habit. Gook luck to anyone who trys.

its all psycological
nicotine addiction lasts about 3 days, yet smokers always last that long when they give up, they just convince themselves they need and after a few weeks month or years give in to themselves. amazing really i am not being smug either ive started again several times. |

Agree with the above. I social smoke a bit. I'm bad when drunk. It is so funny how smokers have millions of reasons to have a fag, but not one reason not to have one.

Really, it's easy! I'm actually enjoying it too.
I know I've been 'brainwashed' into a different way of thinking by the book, but it's all positive. I'd smoked for 16 years, 20 a day, 40 when on the p*ss (very often ). |

Likewise. Both girlfriend & lodger are currently reading their own newly purchased copies of the book. I refused to lend them mine on the grounds that Mr Carr deserves as much money as possible for his brilliance... |

Social smokers. They are a complete mystery to me. Why only smoke at a social event ? It's reverse psychology... smoking is one of the most anti-social things going. Believe me, if you're smoking just to fit in with all your friends who smoke (subconsciously, no-ones silly enough to realise they're doing that), then don't. The smokers amongst a group of friends are always, always green with envy of the friends they have who handle social events without cigarettes ! Don't do it anymore ! |

Time for me to jump on the bandwagon. Had a really screwed up chest this past week, can hardly breathe. Went to the doctors to be told I have asthma. Have had these bad reactions to colds etc. for years, and all along it was this. Every time I try to do any serious excercise I find myself so short of breath, always just assumed I was just totally unfit. I have it so mildly though that I could probably live with it and never really notice. If I didn't smoke 20 a day that is.
I've never wanted to give up before. The idea has just been too scary. I guess maybe I am a weak person, no will power. Still, I really owe it to myself to give it a real go now. I'll be buying the book at lunchtime, and just hope it has the same effect on me as it has on you. Funnily enough, at least two other people in the office have recommended it who haven't seen this thread. Fingers crossed......... |

I just had a look and there were three different give up smoking versions. So what one is best?

I was only aware of 2 versions.
Easyway to Give Up Smoking Onlyway to Give Up Smoking Permanently (much thicker book) I read 'Easyway' (the thinner one), the Permanent one is really for people who struggle after reading the first book I think. |

What about "The easy way to give up books about giving up smoking".
I'm still looking for "How to lose weight by eating more". It must exist somewhere. |
