After two years and a bit being a non smoker thought I could do a bit of passive once in a while smoking.......Wrong !

Back to over 40 a day habit but setting a date to stop again
Bloody Mowhawk indians selling cigs at the reserve for 9 quid a carton does not help when they are 28 quid a carton in the stores.

Gave up for 5 months last year - longest stint off them since I was 12.

Mean to try again before the end of the year.

Les - I didn't think you'd ever go back to them after explaining the circumstances around you giving them up in the first place. Perhaps you should stay away from the BBS on Saturday afternoons!

This is worrying - I'm going through hell by giving up, but it seems it's all too easy to start again.

Les/Gooders - was it just "by accident" you started again? Know a couple of people that started again purely becuase they got Pi**ed, someone offered them a smoke and without thinking just lit up.

Been for 2 lunchtime drinks since giving up, and although only for 1 or 2 pints - I find not smoking at work harder than not smoking in a pub.

I smoked my last cigarette on Page 26 of this thread (November 2000) and have not a even a drag since. All this was achieved without Patches, Gum, Hypnotism, Books or the any other safety net just willpower. I just wish i could be as strong about some of the other things in my life.

Did you not even have trub after a few beers early on Dave? I can give up from about 2am Sunday morning until roughly 8pm Friday night no trouble, but once I'm in the pub it's inevitable

I had 1 smoke last night - that's 5 days hard slog down the tubes.

For some reason, today I feel fine and dandy
Certainly enjoy my beer a lot more now - it's amazing how much better you can taste and smell with no evil weed.

Just saw this thread....
Now been in the States over 3 weeks - and not smoke one cig - & feeling good for it - but then again, not been in a bar or drinking too... so will have to see how it goes on my return, but in the end it is all about will power and no matter what friends/family can say, it is you v the habbit!

I gave up for 12 months but I cut back on the booze at the same time.

Now I'm back on the sauce the ciggies are much harder to resist.
