Maximus is playing for a contract
Andy Reid to Southampton - £4m

I hate Harry Redknapp, why oh why did Southampton hire him of all managers available that would have made the relegation battle easy for us.

Sky Sports news reports Reid is going to sign for £4m plus Omerod and Kenton moving to Forest.

If only our beloved club showed that sort of ambition.

Just heard this now.

Don't worry that much, Reid is a bit hit and miss.

Nottingham Forest have today accepted an offer from Southampton of cash-plus-players in return for Andy Reid.

Southampton manager Harry Redknapp has offered cash payments in excess of £3million, plus two established members of his first team squad.

Forest Chairman Nigel Doughty said: "I promised Andy that should we receive an offer that was right for Nottingham Forest we would allow him the opportunity to fulfil his ambiton of playing in the Premiership.

"The offer made by Southampton fulfils that criteria, at the same time as providing Gary Megson with two players that he feels would strengthen his squad at The City Ground.

"We have had a number of derisory offers from one other Premiership club - none of which were acceptable.

"One of my duties as Chairman of Nottingham Forest is to ensure that no club takes advantage of our position in the Championship. While I'm Chairman, no player will leave this Club on the cheap.

"Financially, the Club continues to progress with the repayment of its debt and move towards our goal of self-sufficiency in the medium term."

He wouldn't want to get injured like Quashie did.

How unfortunate would it be to lose the two players he bought with Beatties money?

Reid is over rated in my opinion. He's a good player, but Forest have got a very good deal there, it's a classic example of waiting until someone is desperate enough to pay you what you want.

Andy Reid is overweight, over rated, and I'm glad he's over at Southampton because he will give them a false sense of hope. They are definitely one of the three for the drop whatever about Norwich.

that's a good deal for Forest. Ormerod and Kenton will be very useful at that level. And, unfortunately, Reid will probably be very useful for Southampton too.

You don't honestly think we can go and spend 4m on one single player?

Saints sold Beattie...they're using the money they got for him to boost themselves.

Unless you want us to sell AJ, don't expect anywhere near that kind of money being spent.

Brilliant deal for Forest. They already have another quality left winger (Kris Commons) at the club aswell so they have got themselves a sound deal.

He also implied that Reid would opt to go to Spurs instead.

Exactly. Forest have played the whole Reid issue very well over the past year or so. By insisting time after time that they wanted £5m for him they have eventually got someone to believe he's worth anywhere near that much. Spurs, Everton etc clearly didn't feel he was worth what they were asking, but Redknapp is desperate to spend the money before the deadline and in doing so he's paid well over the odds for an over rated player.

er Ok maybe he hasn't then....
