decent pie and mash...

... I really fancy some pie and mash, anyone know of anywhere decent within walking distance of High Holborn?

Mat ov CPFC has disabled reputation
Its a bit of schelp from High Holborn but there is a very good one on at The Cut, SE1. ( Cookes ) Its next door to the Young Vic theatre and is very good with proper marble tables and Vinegar bottles with peppers in.

Warning though, its closed on Mondays and tends to get very busy

Alternatively Manzies in Peckham, there's another over in Bermondsey but I'm not quite sure where.

Whatever you do don't try that one in Penge set just off the road opposite McDonalds, it's fowl!!!

My relatives swear on it and whenever they come down from Shrewsbury they take about 40 portions back with them.

That would be the one I mentioned earlier as The Cut is an extension of Bayliss Road which in turn runs on from Kennington Road. It is indeed an excellent Pie shop and also does eels, which personally I find disgusting but if thats you thang then munch away.
