The version on VU is even more charming than the one in the ad, then it's got a great coda. And there's Lisa Says, Ocean.. These are all 'lost' recordings that didn't come out for 15 years, recorded mostly between the 3rd album and 'Loaded', and all are easily up to standard, not at all vault raiding rubbish. VU (first time around) - best band in the world..ever?

AND, we are trying to make her a Palace fan- even though she supports a much bigger team than palace there must be room for CPFC to be adopted as her second team.

I must confess I'm not a Velvet Underground connoisseur!

Of course I know a few musics. I was Radio Presenter and DJ during 5 years (I started when 17 and stopped when 22) so I was able to enrich my musical knowledge. Music was my first passion, hobbies and my way out to be with myself. I did see Lou Reed live in Lisbon, years ago! I was in my teens and my sister took me to the concert - the second in my life, the first was David Bowie.

From Lou Reed what did I know ... er ... err... Walking on the wild side and nothing else!
So I went wondering around for more stuff. I bought some albums ... and yes. I like it!!
The truth is ... I am a rocker. I like the roar of the guitar and the rhythms of the drum ...
thus, Sweet Jane from Lou Reed was my favourite song from him.

Right! So when is that story coming up?

Here goes then.........

Liss Ard House near Skibbereen (West Cork, Ireland) hosts an exclusive concert each year.

Below is a link to a review of 1997's event (Nick Cave, Patti Smith & Michael Stipe), interesting comments about its owners' relationship with the host community.

http://www.angelindevilsboots.org/sp...n_lissard.html

I think it was 98 - my dad did his usual morning activity of walking down to our local GAA (Gaelic Athletic Association) complex - to discuss the building work being carried out there and for a philisophical conversation (mainly sport and politics - bit like the BBS) and copious cups of tea. Dad was met by a motley crew. Apparently they were "some musicians playing a concert at Lissard". He knew none of them but they looked to his (80 year's old eyes) "shifty". They had the pavillion booked to practice their sets.

So he opened up and let them in, keeping a close eye on them.
One shook looking fella asked him for a cup of tea. Johnny (my father) didn't like the cut of him. However, after a few minutes agreed to make him one. The pair sat down and chatted away. After a few minutes the conversation turned to the concert. Johnny asked who the shook looking fell was? The answer came "Lou Reed, ever heard of me?" My Dad told the truth - he hadn't. Lou wasn't impressed but was pleasant enough to him. When she nipped into our family home later that day my sister was asked about Lou Reed and was told the story. She was mortified - she is of the generation that bought his records first.

My dad also reckoned that Nick Cave was a bit of a poseur.

poseurs!!!
That's what most musicians are.

I did interview a few during my Radio days .... and most of them just get inside this shell of "I am so cool, so adorable and so fantastic" but still you also find those "I am so intellectual, so intense ... so f***** marvellous"

I had the chance to interview Lloyd Cole ... and that one did surprise me: he was ... just him.

The truth is ... today's musicians ... most of them are bullshite ...
You don't do music like before and you don't have artists like before.
Mind you ... I am only 30 years old ... it's not like I am a nostalgic old cow ... but it's true ... if you want to listen to good music, there's nothing lile a good classic.

Camel / Moody Blues / janis Joplin / Queen and hundreds more ... you can't replace them but anyone can replace Boyzone!
