(the paragraph below, please, never talk to Mr.Fan about it) But to tell the truth, the chinese football fan don't like him very much. We all think his awareness and football skill is not good. He gained his honor by his strong body. He is not the tallest player in China, the tallest player is Mr. JiangJin, the keeper of the Chinese team. He is not the fastest player in china, the fastest player in china maybe Mr. Zhao JunZhe, who is a midfield(10.9s/100m). He can play many position in the match. As you can see in the short resume, he acted as a forward.He can also act as a midfield,but, unfortunately, none is the best. The best backfield in china I think is Mr. Shu Chang(CB), and Sun JiHai(LB);The best midfield of china I think is Zhang XiaoRui, not Mr. Li Ming; The best forward of china is Mr. Hao HaiDong. He is a world-class player. But Mr. Fan ,Mr. Sun and Mr. Li fit your league style. I think they will satisfied you. well Mr. Fan Zhiyi has been here over 2 years and he's developed into a top-drawer defender, with all the skill and awareness in the world.
He's probably our most important player, we've only lost twice since he came back from the Asian Cup.

Hello, I think Mr. Sun JiHai is a good buy. He was already the main player in the champion of our league--DaLian WanDa(Now Shide) when he is only 17. He is 23 old. He is very young.
Li Ming is not the best, but he is the one who fits your league best. Mr. Wu ChenYing is also a good player, he is a former team-mate of Mr. Fan in ShangHai. He is also powerful and very skillful player. He is a omnipoten player.

May I extend a very warm welcome to you on our beloved BBS. Seeing as you hail from China, perhaps you would like to inform us how ZHIYI is actually pronounced.I have heard it as ZEE ,ZEE HI ,ZEE YEE or even GER YEE. It must be most disconcerting for our wonderful player to hear his name not pronounced in the correct fashion. I would be most grateful for an answer. Very Many Thanks.

If you don't know how Zhi Yi is pronounced in Pu tong hua, How do you expect him to know what the (South London) pronunciation is ?

Indeed, Fan Zhiyi isn't the best player in China. His assets are his speed and physical strength,which many Chinese players are lacking. Nonetheless, I think Hao haidong doesn't have any potential to improve as a striker due to his age. In my view, the best striker in China is probably Yang Chen,who plays for Frankfurt of Bundesliga in Germany. On the other hand, Sun Jihai will definitely be a good left back for Palace, his previous exprience with Palace has proved that. I think Chinese players do have the skills, speed, agility,etc. However, they are certainly don't have the knowledge on how to play good football on the field. That's why they failed to quality for all the World Cup previously. I am glad that there are more Chinese players have the opportunity to play in Europe, because I believe playing in Europe will improve every aspect of their game. Hopefully, they will qualify for 2002 World Cup in the near future. After all, they have missed way too many chances to qualify in the past since the 1:2 defeat to New Zealand in 82....

As you hail from China and are best placed to answer this question,can you confirm that ZHIYI is pronounced GER YEE as stated by a fellow BBS contributor ? I am not stating for minute that he is wrong,I would just like confirmation from someone who is Chinese. Thanking you in anticipation.

Well, Fan is not the best player in China and there are better players in China. That's the point that some of the people were trying to make, that's all. His main assets are his speed and physical strength, which is very suitable as a defender for English football. In my view, I think Sun Jihai is probably a better player than Fan overall. Don't give me wrong, Fan has improved a lot since he came here. At times, his lack of self control on the pitch had brought him so many troubles and just count how many yellow cards he had back then. Then again, I figure a lot of Chinese fans are still pissed off at him because of his own goal against Japan in Asian Cup, which they lost the match by one goal. Nonetheless, I believe he is one of the best Chinese players,that the country can offer at the moment....

I am quit intereted to know if you have watched that game, it's quite diffcult to see Asian Cup in U.S, ESPN? Anyway, I think you are more fair to Fan zhiYi beacuse you said"......a lot of chinese fans piss off", not "most of Chinese Fans" big improvement ! But I have to recognize that Fan did not do very well when he met " livepoor" last time. He was too nervous, in England he need more self-confidence like Sun jihai
