Would absolutely be the right move for us. Left sided very creative player and can score goals.

very inconsistent

Maximus

Routledge was inconsistent, I'd still have him.
Bentley was inconsistent, everyone still wanted him.
Soares & Watson are inconsistent, we still play them.
Youth (unless you're Rooney) = Inconsistency.

hold on hold on, so some ex manager of his says he need to leave to get regular football and some of us have managed to think he's joining us

am i missing something?
Where does it say we re being linked with him? We can't do loans/signing s till January and he doesn't play left sided midfield

They are talking about a loan or a permanent move, which means we wouldn't be able to get him until January, even IF we were interested in him and he was interested in us.

terry butcher (his old boss at motherwell) recently said that 'he must leave Goodison after two years of not playing regular football'. still only 22 - would be a fantastic move if we could bring him down to selhurst, price probably around 750k i'd imagine.

Can't move until January though I guess, although isn't Terry Butcher making a name for himself in the press at the moment ???

He came with a big reputation from Scotland but he's been absolute shit every time I've seen him play. He strikes me as a big time charlie who thinks he's better than he actually is.

Would he be willing to drop down to the Championship? He's a great player, albeit inconsistent, and I'd like to see him here. But I doubt his move would go on without any intrest from Premiership clubs.

no way...he'd blatantly cost 3 million+ moyes does seem to rate him and as you mention hes so young. Also i know hes not getting a game but chance of Uefa Cup, against championship football, if i wasn't a palace fan i know which one i'd choose.

Haven't followed his career in the past few years, but really rated him a few years ago, in the same way I rated Clint Dempsey highly.

We need more experience in general. Dougie will know him personally I bet, so he'll know if it at all makes sense to try for him now.

Exactly the type of player we SHOULDN'T be signing.

Massive wages, injury prone, on a downward spiral....

Kevin Phillips.

Kevin Phillips.

I take your point, but Phillips has always been a goalscorer.

Phillips has double the amount of appearances and five times the amount of goals that McFadden has.

In the last two years McFadden has played a grand total of 8 league games.
