I was thinking about this this morning when I saw a 92 club car window sticker. I just wondered if the 92 club would descend en masse to Boston Utd's first home game next season, so they could retain their membership.

Anyway, I'd like to go to all 92 grounds one day, but I've not been to nearly as many as I thought before I just sat down and worked it out. I've only been to -

Vale
Stoke
Crewe
Liverpool
Villa
Blackburn (twice)
Sheff Utd (twice)
Stockport
Brighton
Huddersfield
QPR
Tranmere
Notts County
Cambridge
York City
Bristol Rovers
Exeter
Oxford Utd
Luton

Only 19!!!

Has anybody been to all 92, or is close to it?

I've seen Palace at 36 grounds (including Selhurst for both Palace and Wimbledon), been to 45 current league grounds, and 53 in total, including some non-league, Queen of the South and Wembley.

I have seen Palace at 52 grounds at the last count, it doesn't look like increasing as I have only been to about three aways games in the last few years. I did my 52 in about 5 years at the start of the 90's.

I've been to 56 solely with Palace between the early 80's and mid 90's. When these people compile their 92 club list can you include grounds where the club have changed venue, e.g I've been to old grounds of Derb, Boro, Reading, Southampton and some more but not the new ones? Also been to Rotterdam, Malmo, Stockholm and Hampden Park with England and Camp Nou on holiday. ;)

Regarding clubs I've only got Wrexham, Darlo, Boston Utd (been to Boston Town!) & Swansea (roll on pre-season) to go. Grounds, though, I've got a few more due to recent developments.

Abroad I've done about 15 German grounds plus a few from most other European leagues. Sad isn't it. I would say I must get out more but that seems to be the problem.

Just rembered - I've been to Coke Park in Dublin, which I think with a capacity of 85,000 is the largest sports stadium in the British Isles. It wasn't fully rebuilt when I was there, but was impressive none the less. I think it's due to be completed this summer. The stadium is owned by the GAA so only used for Irish sports - no soccer or rugby. I saw the club finals in Hurling and Gaelic Football there for just Ł5.00 - and despite the modern facilities an old lady walked round the stand at half time selling peanuts - wicked :p

I worked my total out yestersday and I was thinking of starting a thread on this. I've been to 37 league grounds now, should add about 4-5 more in the rest of this season hopefully. I really need palace to be promoted now as i've done most of the division 1 grounds now where as only about 10 in the premiership.

Which would everyone consider to be their best and worse ground visited?

My vote for the best probably has to be Bolton, obviously it's not the biggest but i like the architecture in comparison to most other new stadia which are just carbon copies of each other

The worst ground i've visited is probably Rotherham or maybe Cambridge but i believe they are currently upgrading

Great idea for a thread!

Bearing in mind I've lived abroad for a good number of years I've managed a not too unrespectable 18 league grounds plus Wembley and 1 abroad.

Another interesting stat is how many of the current 92 league clubs have you been in a ground to see play live? For me 57:

Wembley, Millenium Stadium Cardiff, Hampden Pk, Ibrox, Rasunda Stadium Stockholm, Real Mallorca's old Stadium, San Siro, Olympic Stadium Rome, Stade Velodrome Marseille & The Nou Camp.

I am planning to finish the season on 48 (current) League grounds. To that I can add Wembley, something like two dozen non-league grounds (played at most), the San Siro, the Stadion Hardturm (Grasshopper CZ), St. Jacob-Park (FC Basel), Stadion Letzigrund (FC Zürich), the Dreisamstadion (S.C. Freiburg), the Millerntor-Stadion (St. Pauli), the AOL Arena (Hamburg SV) and the Weserstadion (Werder Bremen).

The Cup Final excepted, this was the one!

I've done all the english league CLUBs apart from Darlo, Wrexham & Boston, but a fair few of those have changed grounds since then. Also clocked up about 25 odd German grounds, 8 in Belgium, around 4 each from most other European countries, one in Cuba & (visited) one in Costa Rica. On the flip side my other half has nearly walked out on me several times due to rearranged holidays or my not going on day trips because "I'd rather see a 3rd division Kefalonian game than look at another bunch of caves".

Not all to see Palace though as didn't go to away games back in '76 and '77 when we played all the shitty little teams up north (sorry northerners)..

New grounds this year have been/will be - Sheffield United (2), Stoke, Brighton, Leicester and hopefully Millenium Stadium (2)!!!!!!!!!!

61 grounds of teams curently in the League, of which 50 were watching Palace.
4 Non-League, although Halifax were in the League when I went to the Shea with Steinadler (a double-bill of football that day, as we'd been to watch Macclesfield as well).
Also saw the second half of an Austrian 3rd Division match, and have proudly worn a Palace shirt whilst watching Fluminese win a cup match in the Maracana in Rio.
Might be going up to Hampden Park with Cumbrian_Eagles_Junior in June to watch an American Football match. Would that count as having done Hampden?

I would say you have to see 90 mins of football (none of those pesky stadium tours!) but if you're not going again any time soon then you could probably include it as a footnote to your list! I've only ever been to one game of anything resembling football (rugby union), and that wasn't at a football ground.

Make that 53 into 56 now, gained Leicester, Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Rushden (last week), lost Shrewsbury when they went out of the league. Also went to Darlington's old ground on the way to Middlesbrough for the Slovakia game, just to have a nose around (also had a chat with the security guy and took some photos), but I don't count that towards my total.

Divided into divisions, my totals are 12-16-16-12, so it's a pretty even spread!

These threads always turn into a bit of a bragging fest. Personally I'm more interested in the geography of it all, and hearing about the weirder places people have been!

For watching matches I've probably been to 20-odd grounds following Palace and occassionally Peterborough. Would love to do the 92 thing ASAP!!

Non-match visits, namely to get pissed up:
Stamford Bridge - Elland Road - St James Park - FC Porto!!

Some of the more random places, mostly that you just wouldn't want to go to:
Eastbourne Town - Cambridge United - Peterborough United - AFC Wimbledon (Kingstonian) - Sutton United - Bradford Kop (oops)...

Got my Dad in trouble for tkaing me out of school 4 the afternoon as Tooting game was moved form the Saturday to a midweek afternoon (was pitch unplayable on the Saturday?). I forgot about Tooting & Mitcham. I went there as a kid (early 70's). I think they played Palace in a friendly and they had a little fella in goal. As I recall, our keeper hit the ball the length of the field and it bounced over their keeper and in, but was disallowed cos in those days it had to touch someone else before it went in.

Very faded memories but so that might not be exactly what happened....

Right ... probably would have met him. :) Had a bit more time on a Saturday in the mid 70s and we went to a few grounds Palace hadn't been to for a while and some of the train journeys were very interesting (there's a recent thread in the Memory Lane forum on this subject) - my fav was Selhurst - Hereford. Cracking day out :p

I have no recollection of why the game was moved though it wouldn't surprise me if their pitch was unplayable. Crummy little ground as I recall, one stand, nearly all Palace.

I don't keep count because it's the "in thing", it's just something to do while you follow football, i know a lot of people have done it before. I also imagine that the above will take the place of the 92 club, I don't expect hundreds of others will follow these guys leads, though some might, I think most of the fun of it is to actually see a match when you're there, chalking up another grounf is just a bonus.

More unusual ones, in regard to Scroatey's post, I've been to the Olympic Stadium in Munich and the Amsterdam Arena, and VS Rugby, Maidenhead, Wokingham Town in non-league.

Really, I think grounds should only be counted if you've seen your team in a competetive fixture there.

That would rule out Bournemouth away in 1975 when we lost 0-4, nothing competitive about our performance on the pitch (though very competitive off it)

Makes it a bit difficult if your team, year on year, don't play certain other teams though. There's hardly a Brentford fan alive who has seen us play Arsenal or Aston Villa, for example. Must be even worse if you support Rochdale or someone like that, who play almost the same teams every year. I've only seen my team play at a few Premiership grounds (the dizzy heights of Charlton, the old Fulham, the old Southampton, Portsmouth and Tottenham), most of the others are England games with a few neutral games thrown in. In my opinion, if you spend the time and money on going to a ground, you've done it, though it's a nice bonus if it is your team.

I presume England counts as your team as well, by the way, since you allowed one England game on your list?

Good evening Europe. Here are the results from Altrincham:

48 grounds still in use
8 grounds no longer in use
2 non-League (Enfield in the FA Cup and Southwick, West Sussex, in a friendly)
and Wembley.

Which makes 56 League grounds at which I've watched Palace.

In addition, I went to Chester City a couple of seasons ago along with a couple of other NW Eagles to cheer on Whyteleafe in the Cup and years ago, whilst at Exeter Uni, went to St James's Park for a game.

And I, too, have been to the Vets stadium, now just a few days from closure........

Can't be bothered to work out the full list now (might try later), but I think you can tell the height of my away travelling days have passed from the number of teams with new grounds where I've been to the old one and not the new - ie Brighton, Southampton, Derby, Bolton (though I've been to the Reebok for a conference), Leicester, Wimbledon (both Plough Lane and SP, but not !) and Reading.

On the other hand for Millwall, Oxford and Charlton (if you count the two versions of the Valley as different grounds) I've been to both old and new; but only for Middlesbrough have I been to the new ground but not the old one (although I visited the site of Ayrsome Park - it's all houses now).

Seen Palace at 54 grounds, watched matches at a further 21 current/former English/Welsh grounds and 4 Scottish grounds.
Only been to two overseas grounds. One of those was the Maracana in Rio and I've no idea what the name of the team playing at the other ground was. We were camping near Innsbruck and Steinadler and I were sent out to buy some food on a Saturday afternoon. It took us some time to find it and then on the way back we spotted this football match going on. Well, you just have to stop and watch don't you. It was something like Austrian 3rd Division, but no idea of the name of either team.

At my age it's the next ground that you remember (for a while anyway); nonetheless took a lot of pleasure in going to Crewe for the first time earleir this month.

Apart from Selhurst Park the grounds I remember most fondly include Colchester, Sunderland (Roker Park), Hereford, Coventry (first away ground visited), Chester's old ground and Ipswich. Outside the UK it has to be Dynamo Kiev's ground - the original, not the Olympic Stadium that they play in for European matches.

Very much doubt I will add to my total much, UNLESS (I bloody well hope not) we get relegated to the lower leagues!

This thread made me think about my situation.

I visited my 100th first class ground with the trip to coventry (99 with Palace + Ajax when on a trip). I have also been to a number of non-league grounds, again with Palace.

My question is.

When I visit Hull's new ground in January it will be my 100th first class ground visited when watching Palace. (If we draw someone away in the cup that I have not yet visited then I will be going to that one as well).

Will anyone else be visiting their 100th away ground with Palace this season in our centenary season?

I'm pretty chuffed that I will be doing it and it was not by design either.
