I agree in certain games it has been harsh to sub him. But he was poor yesterday, his touch and passing was not as good as usual. Mayby his fitness levels are such that Dowie does n't think he has 90 min in him.

I thought yesterday he was trying hard but it wasnt his day, every pass he made ended up in going out of play

It seemed to work quite well yesterday taking him off. It's most likely he gets taken off because he doesn't offer the full back as much support as Hughes does on the other side and if we're winning it gives us a more solid shape.

Sunday - he was injured, holding his groin, signalling to the bench.

According to my Derby supporting mate he was nearly always used as a sub last season, perhaps it is a fitness/stamina issue.

Now that's taking the whole Brighton rent-boy thing to a whole new level. Nice to see the players taking the rivalry seriously. I wonder what McGhee's reaction was?

Attrib. Rodney Marsh, approx 1973. As in;

Alf Ramsey: if you're not having a good game I'll pull you off at half-time

Marsh: thats nice, normally I just get a cup of tea and a biscuit.

RM always claimed this was the reason he never got more England caps (and its true that Ramsey was a total prude so maybe something in it).
