I dont even want to think about it. But if you insist I think there'll be a goal within 120 seconds and Owen will score at some point.

Even if we win/lose/draw the play off looks like our best target, with the German goal diff.

I am going for a draw 1-1, Owen of course and Janker (so tempting to replace J with a W).

The germans will do enough to get themselves through 1-1.
But we will probably hit the post about three times and moan about bad luck for the next week or so in the papers.

I'll be at a wedding. :grrr:

Only a girlie could arrange a wedding on the day of England's most important match for years.

If Beckham plays, he'll break down within 30 minutes and we'll lose 1-0 (again) to a late, flukey, debatable goal (just so's we can whinge about it for the next few years).

And Ferguson will get the right arse-ache about Beckham. :)

I hope you're being sarcastic - it has nothing to do with football and makes us look like idiots.

I am kinda being sarcastic. If you look at the song list, not one of them mentions football at all - most of them are related to the war in one way or another.

Thing is, when sung at a football game, they are football songs - and thats it. Fans sing the song to get behind the team, not to express anything towards the IRA or war veterans. Its the people sitting at home who have never been away with the England fans that take these songs way too seriously.

I actually find the first part of the song,

"Keep St George in my heart, keep me English"

one of the most patriotic lyrics to be sung by the fans.

Damn it. I predicted 4-1 and said I'm never wrong. DOH! Still pretty close though. Didn't say it in my post but I also predicted Gerrard to get 1, Owen to get 2 and Heskey to get 1. Not far off.

Daniel_Nash

I predict a 5-1 win. It will be shaky to begin with but after we get the pressure going Germany will crumble and suck big time. It will be a matter of knocking in easy goals after a while.

Am i a bit late?

Very impressed, and delighted.

Eagle of the East, hang your head in shame, it wasn't an attitude like that which protected us from the dreaded Hun.

I had the pleasure of watching the match in the pub with 3 Germans for company :D

No, but it does make working in Glasgow on a Monday morning a lot more bearable. :D

"They keep going on about 1966..."
"They think they're going to win the World Cup..."
"It was only because the Germans were so poor..."
"They think they're going to Tokyo..."

Bitterness, jealousy... you name it, I've seen it. What a pity. :D

I read this morning that Franz Beckenbauer said that "England played the sort of football that would have beaten anyone in the world", he added "IF England qualify they could make a big impact in Japan and Korea".

Naturally.

But then we don't have Scott Booth playing up front. What a player - as a child he apparently had difficulty playing stick the tail on the donkey without a blindfold. ;)

As an aside I could actually see the Fins getting a result in Germany given the strikers they have. Hopefully Aki will manage a goal against them this time as well.

Sorry if this has been posted else where ...Pre-match quotes from last Saturday!!!!

FRANZ BECKENBAUER
"I am very sure that we are going to win this game. We are as good as, if
not better than, Sven Goran Eriksson's side. I am sure that we are better
prepared for this match than England. We will beat England."

CARSTEN JANCKER
"We don't have to worry about single players such as Michael Owen or Emile
Heskey. We have a stronger team and that is what counts."

SEPP MAIER
"David Seaman is past his best. Even I would have saved that shot and I
don't play football any more. I don't think Seaman has the same standing in
the game as our keeper Oliver Kahn, who is better."

STEFFEN EFFENBERG
"Steven who? I don't know him. I am not interested in England, or who is in
their squad. I don't have time. I have better things to do."

PIERRE LITTBARSKI
"In Germany we are not as stuck in the past as the English. We have always
kept our nerve and gone on to beat them when it mattered most. "They
[England] put too much pressure on themselves and they have too much
respect. I believe that Germany will win in the end, let's say 2-0."

SEBASTIAN DEISLER
"I am glad that David Beckham will be fit. Now England will have no excuses
when we beat them."

ULI HOENESS
"How are England going to win in Germany? It hasn't happened for 100 years.
I have no doubts whatsoever that Germany will quite clearly thrash England.
They will easily qualify for the World Cup with this match."

ULI STIELICKE
"Judging from his potential Deisler is a better player than Beckham. He is
perfect technically, his crosses are precise, he is dangerous in front of
goal, has excellent vision and he is quicker than Beckham."

JONATHAN PIERCE
"STEFFI GRAF, BORIS BECKER, RUMPLESTILSKIN, DONNER, BLITZEN, HERR FLICK,
THE FALLEN MADONNA WITH THE BIG BOOBIES, JURGEN KLINSMAN, JURGEN KLINSMAN
CAN YOU HEAR ME, JURGEN KLINSMAN, YOUR BOYS TOOK A HELL OF A BEATING, YOUR
BOYS TOOK A HELL OF A BEATING!
