View Full Version : Palace on TV in OZ

Just spoke to Setanta. The game they have been given this weekend is Preston vs Leeds. So no Sheff utd vs Palace.

They will be showing both legs of the semis, though. That has been confirmed.

There will be repeat broadcasts also. If we get the Friday night semi it will be 4:45 a.m in Sydney -- but the plan is to
re-broadcast at 7a.m. and on the following day at times to be arranged.

The Final will be on Sunday 21st May. So it will be midnight (Sydney time) 21st until the early hours of Monday 22nd here.

When will we know whether we're Saturday morning or Saturday night?
[you need to live in Australia to understand this].

And what's the preferred venue - Scruffys? [I'd like to avoid what happened the last time... went to the Aussie Rules Club with 350 or so WHU!]

I was there too.

Different this time as the Setanta games are in a lot of Pub venues. However for the "live" broadcast in Sydney we probably have to choose between Scruffys and the Pyrmont Bridge Hotel (both 24 hour venues). Apart from that, there are lots of places around Australia to watched the re-broadcasts.

We should know early next week when we play -- and who. Unless the Football League announce it immediately after Saturday's games.

At the PBH you have to watch it in the main bar and there isn't much room. The screens are stuck up in the corners as well. Scruffy's is a far better option.

Not pay per view. Setanta is like Sky in the Pub Channel venues. Just a matter of getting the staff to turn it on.

Think I'll stick to a bite from the goose garden. From memory I think you're OK if you get in there before 9pm for grub but the chef is a bit militant. Refused to cook me a burger and chips last time even though the lovely barmaid had taken my order. Mind you she charged me $15 for two meals and gave me $30 back so can't complain :)

No. I stopped trying to figure out my masochistic streak years ago.

I'll keep believing until after the second leg. Then if we lose -- I'll expect to get disappointed next season as well. ;)

I'm with Faraway on this one

Will Scruffy's be showing the 2nd leg on Weds morning again??

As far as I know Scruffy's will be showing it (downstairs) "live" 4:45a.m.

There is no 7a.m. repeat for this game.

The repeats are at 1p.m. and 9p.m. Wednesday. Sydney time.

I haven't decided what to do yet.

Thats where i ended up. Was sat next to the woman in the watford top (boo). Should be back there for the second leg!

Lucky you, we had to put up with a trio of noisy middle-aged, tipsy housewives Crows supporters on our side. Who, by the way, knew nothing about footy (AFL).

I was on the lower tier up against the wall.
Briefly had a chat with a few people on your side after the game.
Not sure if you were one of them.

Still thinking about whether or not to have a look on Wednesday morning.

No they only open from 11a.m.

Maybe a long lunch hour from 1p.m. for the repeat is the best bet. Or the later repeat at 9p.m. Wednesday.

Probably did, we were there getting hammered after the game for ages. Was up there in a light blue top sat with a girl and bloke in palace colours and a chelsea fan.

I cant miss weds just on the off chance our lemons can actually dig ourselves out of this mess.

I was there a few weeks ago and there is a new 24 hr sports bar there. Can't remember the name of it - it could just be called 24 hr sports bar.

The casino sports bar, goes 24/7, they dont have setanta.....I doubt if the Kingpin sports Bar Richmond will be open, although they do have setanta.

...... Just checked the website, apparently it's open 24/7 kingpin Richmond..... Victoria gardens.

I should imagine they would turn it on if one were to ask.

any takers ? LOL....

The guy I spoke to just now said they can turn it on but they need someone to call and arrange it in advance so that the duty Manager knows.
