CRYSTAL Palace youngster Matthew Wright has joined Ryman Premier Division side Maidstone United on a one-month loan.
The teenage striker signed for the Eagles in the summer from Swansea City but has yet to feature for the club's first-team.
Wright is in line to make his debut for Maidstone in their away match at Boreham Wood on Saturday.

About 6"4 in height and scored a hat-trick vs Orient not that long ago for the reserves. Very raw at 19yr of age - NW said it was very unlikely Wright would see first-team action at the beginning of the season - that can always change i suppose.

Wright joined Palace as a free agent in the summer and moves to Maidstone on a one month deal.

Warnock said: "This is a good opportunity for Matthew to get some matches under his belt at a good level with Maidstone United."

I've never seen him, or heard of him, until I read about the goals against Orient. Bit of a bummer seeing him go as far down the football pyrimid as Maidstone - maybe he isn't all that. Or maybe it';s just for a bit of a football experince as he finds his feet and comes back firing on all cylinders. Hopefully the latter :p

Mick Jones said in his blog that Cadogan & Wright were highly thought of, but would not see first team action this season.

a non-league spell would do him good imho

strange thing to say,Cadogan did well at the end of last season and looked very promosing. What a way to encourage a young player write his season off before he's had any chance to show what he can do
If thats what Mick Jones thinks is man management it worries me more than any transfer embargo.

Mick Jones actually said Cadogan and Wright wouldnt see 1st team football this "year" which I took to mean 2009, rather than the rest of the season.

There was a full page article on Wright in the match programme on Saturday, which was slightly odd considering he's "off".

Would be great if he got some decent competitive experience and came back to us to be a big-man-goal-machine!

He played and the 'stones' won 2-0 in front of 180 at Boreham Wood. Wright on for whole match and had 3 attempts on goal, one soft shot and one header just over. Can't cut and paste the report, link here but he seems to have done OK

Wright completely nobbled the Boreham Wood goaie and he went off injured and a striker went in goal so it was a quite sucessful debut!

Crystal Palace striker Matthew Wright has returned to the club after a two-month loan spell at Maidstone United.
The 18 year-old, who joined the Eagles on a free transfer in the summer, was initial sent to the Ryman League Premier club for a month to get some experience.
The Stones were impressed with what they saw though and kept him for another four weeks before deciding not to extend it again.
He played 11 games in all and scored twice.

Sounds like he did alright. Could benefit from another spell out on loan somewhere, maybe at a slightly higher level?

Loan him. We have all these players wasting in the reserves. I'd send as
many out as possible till jan.
