Hmm, Le Mans or Le Selhurst, difficult choice but I suppose being near his brother might influence him, although that would be the only thing.

Palace boss confirms Kalou link

Monday, 14 December 2009

By Richard Cawley

CRYSTAL Palace boss Neil Warnock has confirmed that Bonaventure Kalou is training with his squad.

The 31-year-old striker, the elder brother of Chelsea star Salomon, will be available on a free transfer in January when his contract with Dutch club Heerenveen expires.

Warnock said: "He is training with us and he'll probably play a couple of reserve

He comes from the Ivory Coast, Kalou, Kalou
He don't do drugs like Adrian Mutu, Mutu
He crossed the ball in from the left,
And in it went of Riise's head,
And that's why we love Salamon Kalou

La la la la la la la la la

That's the Chelsea song anyways.

Firstly Stavros, his name is 'Salamon'; he aint a fish. Secondly, do you really think he would be at Chelsea if he was shit? I bet Darren Fletcher was 'shit' until Andy Gray told you he was good yea? He is not shit, and he would laugh his way into our forward line, with a blindfold on, with one hand behind his back. On a pogo stick.

If this lad is any good, which his pedegree suggests he may have something about him, then it's uncouraging. I am encouraged we are holding trials at all, to be honest.

Bravo! Have some rep (although a quick edit to correctly spell his name would probably be in your best interests)

I'm a bit fed up with his attempts to make a 'joke' or witty comment in most of his posts. Salomon Kalou is a very very good footballer. He wouldn't still be at Chelsea (haven't they offered him a new contract recently? I could be wrong) if he wasn't, and I'm sure if he went somewhere like Arsenal he would be a regular and a successful one at that.

As long as he isn't a distant relative of George Weah then I'll be happy.

I thought so! I wanted to say it, but if I was wrong I'd get shot down no doubt. I seem to remember something being written in a rag last season to say he was interested. I think he'd be marvellous for them.

Anyway, just because he's good, doesn't mean his brother will be. But still, seems to have a decent history. Won't hurt to take a look, and has been said it's quite encouraging really

Interesting, everyone knows we are lacking goals upfront, perhaps Warnock / SJ think we could be in with a chance of promotion and the gamble of a couple of free transfers might be worth it.

If Palace did sign him, his wages would almost certainly be found from any
change left over from the sale of a major player asset after certain other
debts have been paid.

This is the nearest confirmation we've had from the club that at least one
of our star players will be moving on in January and that Palace are looking for an affordable replacement.

I would guess that Kalou would demand less than Stern John is currently on, but, then again, he may know what his brother earns and will ask for stupid wages.

I doubt, being the older and more experienced of the two, that he would do that, I suspect he knows he will not reach his brothers comparatively dizzying heights, and that as such he shouldn't demand stupid wages. He knows his level, as does his brother. I'd like to think they didn't try to out wage each other.

On a side note, maybe Soccer AM could do a Kalou v Kalou segment to see who scores the most goals in a season like Terry v Terry, Ferdinand v Ferdinand and Rooney v Rooney.

Think as we haven't got many strikers then maybe we are getting desperate

Yep, and the reality is that if we bring anyone in at all they will be

A) On a free
B) On low wages
C) On a shortr contract
D) Because of A, B, and C above, probably someone who nobody else at this level wants (especially given the doubt in players minds as to whether even those low wages will be paid)

Getting players in who meet that criteria, but are still good enough for the level we are at will not be easy. However, if anyone is going to manage that it's Warnock, and I suspect that amongst all the doom and gloom, someone will turn up unexpectedly in the next few weeks and give us something to cheer about
