Just read on his twitter
"I guess sometimes in life ur just not someones cup of tea! Goodbye palace but thanks to the fans and my teammates!"

and
"Thank you. Despite this I must say I thoroughly enjoyed the company of my teammates and like I said b4 palace have top supporters".

All the best to him.

Shame. The few occasions I saw him play, I thought he could be quite good.

I'm not sure why his loan was extended, and then he wasn't played.

He wasn't on loan, we signed him on a free. Think we should have kept him on cheap wages to be honest, I liked the very little that I saw.

Oh. I thought he was a loanee.

My mistake :)

Poor decision to extend the contract the second time when we are so hard up. Should be able to decide if he fits in a couple of months. However, with Scannell injured and Moses future in the air we are down to the bones with other kids.

Isn't this about the 5th or 6th this has happened. Maybe he needs to look at himself?

Good luck though, wherever you end up.

Like Sears; never moaned, only said positive things about the club, but probably not quite good enough. Wish him all the best.

Quick and skillful but showed little end product. If he can work on his crossing he could be a great little player.

Was always going to happen, no one is going to get a new contract right now :(

I always think end product comes after a run of games. Which we couldn't or didn't give him.

Still, I wish him all the best.

Shame. With so many possible departures, I felt that he was one of the players who may have been able to surprise us and make a step up into the gap left by others. As PK said, the ingredients are clealy there for a very good player indeed, and hewould have been well suited to the kind of direct 4-4-2 that is likely to make sense if wer lose a lot of players.

Still, either NW saw differently (and lets be fair he kows better than any of us!), or it was a case of saving money where we can. Either way, best of luck to the player

Agreed, thought he looked handy and when he came on against Man City he was fairly comfortable and effective against higher class players. Real shame...I wonder what other players that we have on the books, who are less effective/useful are on? :(

No surprise we in the current climate we can't afford to offer new contracts to players who are only on the bench

If Ryan Smith was ever going to make it he would have done by now.

Would rather someone like Kieran Djilali got a game (on loan somewhere, i forget where exactly).

He's now back, from a successful time at Chesterfield. In fact that's probably the reason Smith was released.

Hope so, I thought Smith was average at best

He didn't really get much of a run out in the team to judge him, in all fairness.

I watched him play in the game at eastbourne and he was very very quick and was great going forward but very lazy when he lost the ball and didnt work hard enough for the team.

He will find a club and i still think he can do a job at championship level if given a decent run.

I only saw him twice, and was impressed. But a mate who supports Millwall says he was the same there, ie looked good but produced little, and rarely passed the ball.

He has one of the best crossing abilities I have seen certainly at championship level for other clubs, certainly good enough for the premiership when he was younger.

It's such a shame the lad had so much talent when he was younger why he isn't succeeding is a mystery, he was a shoe in for a future England player before. As someone said we're not the first to release him. I hope he sorts out what ever it is a lives upto his potential some day.

With our financial position and our youngsters waiting he was going to be released if he wasn't in the first eleven. All the best of luck to him. I hope he doesn't take it personally.

When we signed him a Saints mate told me he is quick, skillfull but no end product, and never looks up..

Shame, but he will get a deal somewhere - decent League 1 club i imagine

Which is exactly how he looked to me the few times I saw him.

In the small glimspes he was afforded he looked like a decent old fashioned winger. I don't mean this disrespectfully to him but he really needs to get himself down to a League 1 club, work hard and get some proper first team football. He will cause some full backs problems and OK his end product might not be brilliant but that comes with games not bench warming.

I love the fact that the two recently departed lads have only good things to say about the club, particularly their colleagues. In times like these we need the players really digging in deep for one and other.

All the best Ryan!

Nice comments indeed. Well appreciated.

I like him from glimpses but every senior wage counts and he wasn't involved enough. Good luck

From the little I did see of him he looked a far better player than Scannell and Djalili but unfortunately he never got enough minutes on the pitch to prove it.

Surely they wouldn't just lift the embargo for the hell of it.
could this mean they know something we don't about potential buyers for the club?

Strange.

Smith had a great start for the Kansas City Wizards, scoring on his league debut for them :)
